It's not too bad for a cafe racer, I don't like the pod filters at weird angles and that would be easy to fix

The CB175 was a cheap commuter bike, not very endowed in the power and handling departments. It's a bit like making a hot rod from a Morris Marina keeping the standard engine and running gear.

That's basically the whole cafe racer ethos.

Do you remember the customised cars in the mid 70s, I'm sure somebody customised a Marina.

Adjustable rear shocks
Tacho
5 speed box
'Sports' styling.
Well, to be accurate, less fugly styling.
Even bland can be a type of character

Is it me, or does it look as if the front of the seat needs bolting down?
Love that Honda gold colour scheme though!

And probably wasted their money. A polished turd is still a turd at heart.

Is it bollox. They were used to race from cafe to cafe. Always built for speed.

Yes, from whatever base bike could be bought cheaply and modified. Some were serious race reps, yes. Most were cheap commuter bikes tarted up on a budget.Yorick wrote: ↑Tue Jun 01, 2021 8:24 pmIs it bollox. They were used to race from cafe to cafe. Always built for speed.

You're thinking of the cD175 which was a real shopping trolley.
The cB175 was actually a nice sporty and decently-handling (for the time) little thing.
But this is another case of something being made to look nastier than the original.

CB had one carb per cylinder, CD shared carbs between cylinders.
As to if it's any good, so what if the owner and/or builder likes it, that's all that matters.

If it's built to ride, fine... and at least this does appear to be the case here...
But that drooping seat line grates. The headlight is just ugly. And the fat tyres look oversized (though that may be more because there are no mudguards). It's all about lines and proportions. When you get it right, it's obvious. When you get it wrong it's equally obvious.

The same applies about looks IMO.

Are you the owner and/or painter of those?
I can't say much do either for me, but then I'm not keen on pictures of Jesus.

It was a well-reported 'restoration' of a fresco in Italy back in 2012
