Trainers, instructors, observers, tutors, coaches - sign in here
I don't know yet what the [new] boss's views are on advertising, etc., but it might be worthwhile any trainers, instructors, observers, tutors, coaches and so on signing in here.

I feel a bit of a fraud adding myself to the list ;D as I've had to give up riding, so can't to on-road training. However, I will happily contribute to discussions, particularly if people have specific issues with their riding or don't think they're enjoying it as much as they could.

Evening
Currently on the national register as a downtrained CBT instructor which allows me to teach under another instructors License but just had my first DVSA standards check last weekend and will be hopefully off to DVSA base at Cardington soon to get my own license rather than a downtrained one.
Currently working towards my DAS instructors qualification

Did the DVSA/DSA ATB thing for twenty odd years. RoSPA and BMF instructor certificates expired during lockdown but will resit next month.

Hi All
I’m new to the forum and I’m a DVSA approved Enhanced Rider Trainer, offering post test/advanced training. I’m based in Shropshire and I’m self employed (or should that be self destroyed !?) with a genuine love of bikes and a passion for helping people to improve their riding and their safety. My website is www.enhancedridertraining.co.uk.
As well as previous CBT experience, IAM f1rst, DVSA Trainer registration, including blood biker and first aid, plus numerous other courses etc., I also have over 35 years ‘real world’ experience, including 10 years road racing plus many years of green laning.
Should anyone be interested in some 1to 1 advanced skills training, or in completing a DVSA Enhanced Rider Course (which is a recognised qualification giving an average 10% saving on your insurance) don’t hesitate to message me
Many thanks for reading this
Dave

Good evening!
I hope you'll join in some of the more convoluted and pedantic discussions of minute detail that we manage in SA
And of course the free for all that is General Mayhem

Good luck
I called my own courses 'enhanced rider training' back in 1997. I would get calls and emails saying "not really what I'm looking for, I want advanced training".

Hi Spin Doctor
Yes, I know what you mean but I’ve always tried to be respectful to the IAM. If you use the word ‘advanced’ in your company name it can imply some sort of collaboration or link to the IAM ??

Re: Trainers, instructors, observers, tutors, coaches - sign in here
It never bothered RoSPA
When we set up the BMF Blue Riband Award, we deliberately avoided using 'Advanced'. As Spin says, people search for that. A few years later it was rebranded ... Advanced Riders Award.
I've tried using other descriptions ('coaching'). My advice: advertise 'advanced' but teach according to their needs.
That said, I gradually felt that 'to a test' advanced training didn't work for many people, so moved to solving specific problems. But people would still search for advanced training providers for it.

Yep, fair comments....although I’m hoping that the DVSA Enhanced Rider Scheme might make the ‘Enhanced’ word more synonymous with advanced skills ??

A series of questions, I'm sure you'll see the point:
- Where do most of your trainees come from, how do they find you?
- Are there enough of them?
- If 'no', how do they search?
Think like them!
