The riding position will be back-breaking with those low bars and the standard footrest position. They've left them because they're mounted to a steel bar that goes under the engine and braces the frame together - it'll crack if it's removed... don't ask how I know. The front brake should have more than enough power to overwhelm that scary-looking front tyre.
Whilst I do have a soft spot for the engine itself, it was a guaranteed exploder. The cam chain tensioner was a disaster and the top end wore out.
