Just a nice little parade, I'm sure they wouldn't push too hard.

I suspect most motorcycle riders under 40 have never ridden a two stroke, never mind raced one, good two strokes are very good, bad ones are appalling, and a change of atmospheric pressure can make a good one mediocre.
There's also a massive difference between the last 500s raced and the 500s that were raced for most of the 80s and 90s, by the end of the 90s the tyres could handle the power delivery.
I think all of the current Moto GP riders would initially find a 500 difficult, but they'd all work out how to ride one given enough time.

I’ll have you know I had a DT50 with 60cc big bore kit followed by a GT185.

Are you under 40?
And GT185s were a bit shit, I had two of them that I paid £60 for in 1984.

Nope. And you’re right, they were shit. I keep looking at them on eBay

Bizarrely, on Sunday a man asked me if I knew anyone who wanted to buy a GT185 engine, I think the look of disdain I have him surprised him, I would be happy if I never saw another GT185, but the bloody things seem to be attracted to me, I know someone else with one that they tried to sell me.

As the only person in the current field thats ridden one (and won the championship) he would be lapping the others for hours till they figured it out.
I wonder how many would be highsided into orbit ala Gardner

They'd all take a period of adjustment and then handle them as well as the 80s lot I think. I find it bizarre that people think that the current crop of riders who are controlling front end slides every lap sometimes wouldn't be able to handle back end ones. There is footage of Lorenzo, Marc, Asparagus etc sliding both ends of 2 stroke mini bikes when they were about 4 years old. They'd be more high sides than now but I don't think it'd put any of them off, the whole GP grid are fucking mental.
Besides allowing high sides wouldn't be tolerated by the manufactures now either as it wrecks riders and bikes so they'd all have traction control anyway
