Not having a Guzzi didn't last long, sold my Centauro on Monday & bought this Friday

Not the ideal time for a project, but I'll ride it a bit & can chip away at the minor things this summer. Any ideas on how you can make a rather loud exhaust quieter?

I can't decide whether to refit the original exhaust, which weighs a metric ton & the silencer is damaged, keep the race pipes but refit air box, filter, find a way of making it quieter or fit original downpipes but get a Mistral end can and remap. There's swings & roundabouts & costs with either options, although the good folk of guzzi owners seem to be pretty well up on diagnostics & remapping choices

There's a chap on grisoghetto.com called beetle, he knows plenty about maps for carc guzzis

Yeah, I've not contacted him yet but I have downloaded the guzzidiag program and ordered some cables so I connect up the bike to laptop, the bike ticks over at 2k rpm! So I'm hoping a reset of the throttle position will resolve this.There's a chap on grisoghetto.com called beetle, he knows plenty about maps for carc guzzis

Had the cables ready to map my Griso for a year now and still not got round to doing it - so many other things keep getting in the way

Update so far, sold a few spares off that came with the bike but couldn't get a reasonable price for the funky pipes so they will go back on eventually, currently I am the proud keeper of a Breva 750 that looks like it has been to the moon and back whilst nice Mr Baldrick sorts out the 1200s clutch, dodgy battery and non functioning speedo, hopefully the bill will be closer to £1k than £2k
So far I have junked the mini indicators, bar end mirrors, loud exhaust, race ecu, bell mouths, red bodywork and scratch built tail tidy then sourced and fitted original bits instead. Next will be to trick it up a bit by getting the funky exhaust modified to quieten it a bit & the get it dyno'd for maximum tractability, hence why I needed the slipping clutch sorting.

<edit> as for exhausts, I've found that db killers (available in a variety of sizes) take the edge off rorty Italian twin exhausts, while still retaining the sound of distant thunder. </edit>

Booked in for Friday at Dave Woods in Buckingham to tack in some dB killers into the exhaust (calling the silencers would be plain wrong), then dyno, remap & mot. Trust me to choose the first few days of -ve temps
