Well, that saved me 550 gbp ...

Post by Mr Moofo »

Tomorrow is my birthday - so I was going to buy myself a xl Cotic Bfe frame.
Mainly because I cannot stop the PP Oka bottom bracket from clicking - but also because it is a press fit.
Did 28 Km on the Oka today- and realised how much I hate HT riding. Must be because I am getting old...

Whilst I commend you on your saving I'm afraid I can't agree on the HT thing. "Your" Solaris frame is still performing very, very nicely.

LB - I still have a Production Privee Oka ( and a Solaris frame in the attic). I just had a hankering after BFe ( long, low and slack stuff) after Cotic fired an email at me.
The PP does all I need it to do. The press fit bottomed bracket seems to creak but that stopped half way through the ride the other day. It was a cathartic ride to see whether I needed a new frame. I don't. The Oka will remain - it's a really good winter / riding in shit bike . (Other that a press fit BB)

Only thing that cured my press fit commencal was using Loctite bearing fit compound - someone on STW was saying plumbers fitting compund works well too but I haven't tried it.
