His'n'hers eMTB suggestions

Post by v8-powered »

After a ride today with the missus on her old Giant XTC, she announces she'd quite like an eMTB as she's getting lazy. Well if she's getting one, so can I so suggestions for both please.

Prefer FS if possible with lockouts, be nice if could be on CTW as can buy through my Limited company. Don't want to spend a fortune but open to good suggestions.

Errrr, yeah, you might want to define what you consider a fortune.

You'll be looking at somewhere in the region of £10k for 2 bikes.

Hoping around 3.5 to 4k each.

The focus jam 2 6.7 comes in at 4k and looks to have a decent spec.

My preference is bosch motor, £4K will be your starting point. Cube make good value but your biggest issue is stock there’s very little around.

Lad I work with has given me a few pointers but as you say, stock is an issue.
He seems to rate the Cube Stereo and also the Giant Stance E+

I've yet to meet anyone that doesn't love their emtb, no matter what make, I think you'll be pushed to get much with full suspension at your budget, I don't regret getting a hardtail, dunno if I'd go 29er again though, it's a bit big in the forest.

Or the controller, or the crank sensor. Definitely buy local. 👍

So this is the list of those that have been recommended to me, work colleague singles out the Vitus but Giant jumps out at me because we have a local dealer for support.
Heard good things about Haibike but unsure on support?

Giant Stance E+ Electric FS 2021

Vitus e-escarpe 2021

Haibike alliance 2021

Haibike FullSeven 2021

Cube stereo 2021

would help with links so we can compare specs.

Also. What's important yo you in the context of desires ? e.g Do you want 12 speed more than you want Fox forks, do you want more travel, less travel, better wheels over a better shock, a particular motor.

For the Ladies bike i'd be looking at the Liv, which is the Giant womens brand.

For me it doesn't have to be cutting edge top spec. It will be used for a mix of woods/lanes/roads for fun only and reliability will factor in highly.

I'll post some links up later, SWMBO is requesting my services to do chores!

You not think? I regularly lock mine when on the road and also showed the missus she could on her bike, she found it far better on tarmac when locked.

At the price point I'm looking at it will always be a compromise, bit difficult to justify 6k+ each for something 50% of the time is used for riding to and from a pub! It's the compromise I need help with....

Doesn't 'Bob' as much, effort goes in to pedals as opposed to bouncing.
May be placebo but feels better on tarmac when locked.

But you don't need that with an ebike as it doesn't matter due to having power

Fair point Sir, now you put it like that. So one less tick in the box required now.....
