The status of women in Iran is well known.
Just below that of donkeys, but before dogs.

1. They are not 'leading'Saga Lout wrote: ↑Fri Apr 23, 2021 12:42 pm "The UN’s Economic and Social Council has elected Iran to a 4-year term leading the Commission on the Status of Women (CSR)..."

2. It's the CSW, not the CSR
3. You sould stick to media outlets that can actually get the name of the organisation they are reporting on correct
4. It's not the fist time Iran has been 'elected', nor Saudi Arabia, or the Congo etc etc
5. It's done on a regional rotational basis, when it comes to the Middle East you're not exactly spoilt for choice where states upholding womens' rights are concerned
6. Iran is a member of the UN, hence having representation and being allowed to contribute
7. It's doubtful, but they might actually learn something
