Apple Go Hippy-Dippy - New iMac
Apple Go Hippy-Dippy - New iMac
Must be all that weed they are smoking in Cupertino.
The new iMac in garish colours. Also gone is the logo. It is getting slammed by the pros. It looks like it was made for a kid's bedroom. At least the colours match the disgusting rainbow boot up screen.

Re: Apple Go Hippy-Dippy - New iMac
I actually gasped at the point when they showed the front of it. Hideous thing. No idea what they were thinking - those pastel colours are vile and clash horribly with the solid colours on the back and the white plastic. Not surprised the logo's missing, I imagine they're embarrassed.
I can't remember an Apple product ever being so ugly.
The only hope is that they're trying to put more distance between the little one and the big one now that they've dropped the Pro, and that the big one will fix most of the issues. If they get rid of the chin and use colours an actual designer came up with, plus better specs of course, then it could be ok.
A common, if ignorant point of view.

Perhaps it's a common view for a reason.
I'm not a mac hater - I love my iphone and ipad. The Mac OS is as clunky AF. One of our customers has a network with about 40 PCs and 2 macs. The 2 macs give us more trouble than the 40 PCs put together. And I think you'll find that's a common view in IT depts up and down the country as well.
Re: Apple Go Hippy-Dippy - New iMac
I guess there's no one experience for everybody. In the industries I've worked in, Macs are almost ubiquitous and all the IT depts moan about the PCs they have to support.wheelnut wrote: ↑Mon Apr 26, 2021 8:56 amPerhaps it's a common view for a reason.

No OS is perfect, but I've never heard MacOS described as 'clunky' before.

Don't like the pastel colours, buy the gray one.
They're not forcing you to have one in peach.
I can't see your typical Mac user jumping ship to Wintel just because they don't like the design.

Re: Apple Go Hippy-Dippy - New iMac
The grey one is clearly the least-worst, but it's still an odd design. The white plastic looks cheap and they kept the massive chin in order, presumably, to make the whole thing super-thin. Which is of zero importance. Why not stick all the gubbins behind the screen?KungFooBob wrote: ↑Mon Apr 26, 2021 9:55 am Don't like the pastel colours, buy the gray one.

I actually think the colours are a good idea, but the implementation is horrible. The bright, deep colours look great, but the pastels don't and they clash with each other. From the back they look nice If only they could've dropped the chin and made the whole casing in the rich-coloured aluminium, they'd look fantastic.
Anyway, like I say, hopefully they'll do it better when the 30" (?) one comes out. If so, I'll buy one to replace my old 27" one.

Re: Apple Go Hippy-Dippy - New iMac
just buy a mini mac and do away with the gash looking set-up ...
Re: Apple Go Hippy-Dippy - New iMac
I'd look at doing that, but generally the Minis are pretty low-spec... plus high-end monitors are rare and expensive. The big iMac has always been a bit of a convenient bargain.
