New bike day- another Honda Grom

So picked this up today, its a 2016 Honda MSX 125 Grom, its 1530 miles on the clock, the father in law bought it a few years ago to use as a paddock bike but no longer needs it, I was after a commuter and he sold it to me proper cheap, I wanted something bigger but for the price and the cost of petrol its too good to turn down.

This my 2nd Grom, 1st one a car pulled out on me and it got totalled.
riding it back home was a fun, its proper slow, nothing new sprockets won't sort out (well to a certain degree)

the tail tidy is a proper eye sore, vile so that needs to go, along with a few other bits.

so far I've got the following on order

14t front sprocket
37t reat sprocket
tail tidy and smaller plate
quick action throttle    and new renthal grips

then going to do what I had done to my last one as that was quite good fun to ride in town.

wavy disks
new rear shock
Hey brake line for the front
need some decent mirrors as the Honda ones on there are absolutely poo

not the most exciting bike out there but plenty of fun, plus it means ill will not longer need to use the triple 675R for commuting duties unless I actually want/need to.

That is cute!! Bloody love them! I see them as Boy's Barbies as you don't just buy one, you buy one and then you dress it up. Thems the rules :obscene-drinkingcheers:

Thatโ€™s jokeโ€™s way to look at them. You all the money saved in petrol and speeding tickets needs to be spent somewhere ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚

I'd get one if I could find a logical reason but there isn't one. It's not a bike that you can ride around town and park anywhere as they're so desirable and can be picked up and thrown in the back of any vehicle in the blink of an eye. I bet the insurance is high because of that.

I used to borrow the one from Gedges, Pevensey when they'd let me. A friend borrowed a Honda 125 scooter (sorry, don't know the name of it) at the same time, he was a couple of stone heavier than me and still beat me - so as standard, they're not at all quick.

Great toys though!!

I've said before in these hallowed pages a Solex would be perfect for nipping to work on except Hackney traffic would make the trip less pleasant -

Nice! I nearly bought one last month, but insurance around here (on anything) is over 1/4 of the bikes value per annum and I thought "sod that!"

It was an extra ยฃ50 to add it to my street triples insurance, so not to bad, also in regards to it being stolen they will take what they want. Have you not see the Panigale video being nicked in Soho.

Itโ€™s a pure comedy bike.

Iโ€™ve got the tail tidy here and the new sprockets so Iโ€™ll get them fitted Monday.

Today I added a few bits, removed the large sail from the rear and fitted the new one, looks loads better, will now also get covered in road crap from behind but oh well.

I was planning on using the current rear indicators on the bike, but when I went to fit them, they are resting on the exhaust, ill have to order a smaller pair tonight to go on, then I can put them on and wire up the number plate light.
What was a ball ache was having to remove the tail tidy to change the indicator bracket, it came with one for after market mini's and the original.

I also changed the front and rear sprockets, went from 15/34t to 14/37t , it was loads better to ride, did not set the world alight but was fun. Also fitted the renthal grips but I am not a fan of there colour.

Hardest part was getting the wheel in, there has to be a knack to getting it all lined up whilst hold the wheel and sliding in the axel.

Plank of wood rocking on a screwdriver, see/saw fashion, normally helps lift a wheel whilst you're arsing about sticking the axle in.
