Ouch! SRAM XG1150 cassette isn't cheap!!?
Think I need a new cassette on the G160! £100 just about everywhere. Ouch!!!!
I've gone for a new chain first as even if it's not the chain it's always good to have a spare.
Cassettes though, damn.

it could be worse....
you could be looking for a 12s eagle cassette, they are truly eye watering and enough of an excuse for me to not own a bike that has 12s
there are cheaper options though, the slx 11-42 of sunrace 11-42 are a chunk cheaper

SLX won't fly as i need XD drive.
Sunrace are absolute garbage in my experience, i wouldn't fit one if it were free. I've had 2, they were both clunky, rattly and just dire.

How many miles do these things last? I know that a how long is a piece of string question, but the mechanicals of modern bikes seem very short lived.

Ah, didn't realise it was XD drive.
I've had a couple of 10s sunrace cassettes and they were absolutely fine, I couldn't tell any difference between them and the standard shimano that was on the bike when I got it.

off road they get trashed much much quicker than on road bikes because they are constantly running in a bath of sand / grit / shite
my ebike transmission was replaced at 800 miles

I get the sand and grit thing, but 800 miles? Longer than an MX chain and sprockets I suppose.

I've got 1200 miles on this, but it was used when it came to me.

Mrs L's Levo killed a XG1175 cassette in a summer, came to change the chain as only just a fail on the checker and it was skippy the bike with no effing gears on the smaller sprockets when I put the new chain on. I feel your pain.

I got 800 miles out the cheaper PG1130 on my ebike, I always fit the cheapest chains and cassettes that work and I’ve noticed no difference in lifespan compared to the more expensive stuff I’ve tried. The PG1130 is £68 that’s what’s on my ebike

Yeah i'm going to whip the cassette off my lads bike in a while and lob it on mine, just to check and confirm that's the issue. I've got a chain on the way from Biketart anyhow.

So i whipped the boys cassette off and fitted it and the slight jump is gone... I then spent 15 mins with cleaning stuff and brushes on mine and it's deffo a little better but not quite 100%. It only jumps a little in 1 gear (6th) and only when pedalling backwards, which i never do on the trails, so no massive hurry to replace it.

odd that - because mine have all been great ...
SRAM gear stuff, however, is made from cheese...
And the XD drive is the most stupid design on the planet
