These for me are one of the most stunning and iconic bikes on the planet.. They just look 'right' to me.

I find it hard to believe that bike is nearly 15 years old. It still looks like a fresh design to me. Looks good in the yellow speed blocks but not as nice as the deep red IMO.

I wouldn't say they're iconic....they're nice enough, but certainly not one of the stand out icons IMO. If any R1 is gonna fit that bill it would be the original '98.

They're "just" one of the many superbikes available from a period when superbikes were still hotly contested, which isn't to take anything away from them.

I had a 98 R1, it was fucking mental, like a 150bhp LC
