Re: Spencer CB1100
I think it's awful..... But i also think if it was my kind of bike, i'd think it was absolutely sunning. It's a lovely example of it that's for sure.

I'm posting these threads to provoke discussion about motorbikes, and as I really don't like café racer type bikes, these are what you're going to get

Bring em on all day fella I don't like Cafe Racers either if i'm honest, but you can only post what you can find.Le_Fromage_Grande wrote: ↑Mon Feb 08, 2021 3:13 pm I'm posting these threads to provoke discussion about motorbikes, and as I really don't like café racer type bikes, these are what you're going to get
I'd post MT-10s and 1290 Superdukes all day if i had my way, but you've got to post for disucssion and that would get boring quickly.

Re: Spencer CB1100
If Honda do launch the retro styled CB1000R, then they better do it as a Spencer rep.

They'll be selling one to me if Honda do, I've decided that at age 54 it's time for my first brand new bike if something nice enough is madeKungFooBob wrote: ↑Mon Feb 08, 2021 3:18 pm If Honda do launch the retro styled CB1000R, then they better do it as a Spencer rep.

Re: Spencer CB1100
Of the era I preferred Suzuki or Kawasaki,I really don't dig many Hondas. They make fine bikes,it's just I never seem to want one,or see one which sets my 'want' on fire.
Totally illogical,as the 1100 is a well styled bike, but yanno Honda......

Re: Spencer CB1100
I completely know what you mean, the Honda was pretty but fragile, nearly all the specials of the time either used Kawasaki or Suzuki engines, in the 80s I was offered a CB750F and a GSX750 for the same price, I bought the GSX because I thought the Honda would imminently explode, which was a mistake because the GSX shagged the centre two big ends at Santa Pod.

the big bendy silver bars and mickey mouse ear mirrors. Looks all a bit ER500 to me.Le_Fromage_Grande wrote: ↑Mon Feb 08, 2021 3:28 pmNo problem, in what way does it look like a learner bike

Re: Spencer CB1100
As much as I love those reps I'd still prefer a standard ish one. With their high bars and a set of rearsets they were streetfighters before that genre came along.
There was an article, probably in Superbike, about a German made body kit for that era of big bikes. AFAIR the German TuV weren't happy with the name, too aggressive. Or so the article suggested.

Re: Spencer CB1100
Yeah, the Superdream look kind of ruins Hondas of that era for me.
That said there was a bloke who did a Lawson styled bike with Suzuki motor a while ago.
It was at Kirkbride airfield drag run wot you brung thing and one of the tidiest specials I've ever seen.
Was in a few mags as well.

Re: Spencer CB1100
Hondas of that era were all tainted with the CBX snappy camchain brush hence why people thought they were all fragile and made of chocolate and bought big Kawasaki's and Suzuki's instead
That one looks good but like others i preferred the Lawson rep everyday

Re: Spencer CB1100
The one in the OP looks like the 900 Honda I used to like, but they've fecked it up by putting the oil cooler and a kitchen downlight where the headlight should be! The modern one looks nice too, but if I was spending on a modern bike with that sized engine, it'd be hard to get past the mighty MT10!
