Carbs are a bit small for an 1170, which is probably why it's a bit down on power, I also wonder why they used a 750 frame, 1100 frames are neither rare or expensive, and the only difference is the location of the engine mounting points

Probably didn't want to spunk a grand on a set of RS36s, it'll be a torque monster but I wonder if he's getting the benefit of the cams with wee carbs.Le_Fromage_Grande wrote: ↑Thu Feb 04, 2021 9:17 am Carbs are a bit small for an 1170, which is probably why it's a bit down on power, I also wonder why they used a 750 frame, 1100 frames are neither rare or expensive, and the only difference is the location of the engine mounting points

I think CRMC rules say you have to have round slide carbs on a bike that age, best would be Keihin CR35s, these are good for 140bhp on an 1170, they do cost £1200+ though.Bigjawa wrote: ↑Mon Feb 08, 2021 12:33 pmProbably didn't want to spunk a grand on a set of RS36s, it'll be a torque monster but I wonder if he's getting the benefit of the cams with wee carbs.Le_Fromage_Grande wrote: ↑Thu Feb 04, 2021 9:17 am Carbs are a bit small for an 1170, which is probably why it's a bit down on power, I also wonder why they used a 750 frame, 1100 frames are neither rare or expensive, and the only difference is the location of the engine mounting points

I've always had a bit of a soft spot for Katanas and by the looks of it that ones fairly fettled but those colours are pretty gopping.
