Thought i'd give the trailer a bit of TLC before the season of going up and down the country with it begins.

It last got some TLC when Crust took it and his Superduke to Spa. One of the bearings failed on the way, which he almost binned the KTM with !

I don't know how long ago that was, but at least 5 years.

The trailer lives outside and on it's side, so the rain sits on the wheels. Which of course is rubbish, but it's something i've not addressed yet and not sure i can think of a good and simple way to do so. I guess a piece of Tarp screwed to the wall which then comes over the trailer is a good option, something i need to think about in honesty.

Each hub has 2 bearings, the first one, bearing 1 was lovely, bearing 2 wasn't too bad, whipped the seal off and gave it a bit of grease and it'll do another year or 2.
Bearing 2, well they were both completely knackered and needed a lot of persuasion and replacing with new ones. But a nice 45 mins job of smacking, hammering, persuading and we're all golden

I also think it likely needs tyres, but even though the wheels are fairly functional and solid, i may as well replace them for £43 each, so i'll get that done in the coming weeks.

a plastic carrier bag over the wheels should do the trick? You could splash out and buy 2 x bags for life from Waitrose, they're well sturdy!!

That'll work on the top one but not the bottom, plus the mount arm will get in the way too. Hence me thinking the tarp.

There's summot to be said for these trailers you can easily dismantle and store indoors.

Some love them, some hate them. I'm not a fan having seen people struggle lots with them

Extend the back of the garage a few feet, add a double door onto a covered car port type structure on the patio and you're sorted.

Under £4k to you sir,

Can you get bearing saver caps in the correct size? Once fitted you fill them grease from a grease gun. Lots more grease as well as IIRC no vent to let water in.

They're primarily for boat trailers, and save you having to wait so long for the bearing to cool before you plunge it into the sea.

I've got plenty of garden but poor access. Small gateway between house and garage.

I'm sure you would if you could, but why not store it on end?

It has caps, I've filled with more grease manually as they don't have grease ports.

I think the lights are what would be on the ground. They stick out the furthest

There are trailers designed to be stored on end, might worth looking to see if the have brackets or spacers you could fit.

Could you remove the wheels? Would that then stop the water from sitting on them.

Or one of the elasticated waterproof car covers, I had tarp outside and it made a hell of a racket in the wind.

I could for winter yeah, but can't see me doing it all year. But for winter it's a decent call.

I'm pondering a similar cover. My motolug lives in the garden under a Oxford Stormex bike cover. It's not ideal as pockets of water collect and a bit seeps through over time. I'm thinking just a folder down wooden flap to keep the worse off. I guess I should just get a garden shed really.

It'd have to be a bloody big shed for an Erde.

Plus would be a nightmare getting it it.

I think a couple of brackets on the light end may be the answer

Post up pics of its base and suggestions can be offered. It might be as simple a couple of small door handles.
