KTM secondhand bike prices

Post by Deadpool2 »

I have been looking at getting something more upright, as the only way I could ride last year was with a lot of painkillers.

However, looking at prices the KTM 790 does seem to have taken a bigger hit compared to others like the vstrom 650 and tracer 700.

Is it me or are KTMs just a bit more weaker in the market?

Some, depends on what they're bringing out. Don't forget they were selling them brand new for £7499

One of KTMs big issues (or bonuses depending on when you buy) is they often do big discounts on new bikes. Sometimes making them cheaper than 2nd hand ones.

I nearly bought a 790 Duke brand new last year for 6600.

1090s were dropped from 11k to 9k at the end of the model run

390 Dukes were punted out for 3k

Pants if you paid full price for one.

That's why I got rid of my 790 last year. Due to the price drop, the trade value was getting pretty low and it didn't look like I'd have any equity in the bike at the end of the pcp. One dealer I spoke to was convinced 2nd hand 790 prices would go up again once all the discounted bikes had been sold because those wanting new would have to pay 9k ish for the base 890. I'm not sure how right he was, but his logic made sense.

Well I think I may just sit out another year. Looks like most of the 790s have been sold, and the new 890 is close to £10k. Not the end of the world if the value sort of remains for another year, just means more painkillers. lol

what are you riding now ? the 790 isn't 'that' comfortable in the sit up and beg stakes IMO, the pegs are high(ish) and the bars a decent reach.

What about something like a 1050 or 1090/1190? Fairly big but cheaper than the 890.

A bit like Weeksy said in his thread.

The KTM is fun but it has niggles. Going back to Japanese next.

Me too sadly :( I love KTMs for their attitude but I want something trouble free next and so it'll be Japanese for me as well I suspect.
