Apple To Roll Out Tracking Privacy Feature

Post by Phoenix »

Delayed from last year but coming early this Spring despite Facebook’s protestations.

PDF from Apple here:

It is actually a quite good explainer with some Q&A.

Lengthy article from the reliable Ars Technica

Be nice if Android got the message on that one but I can't see it happening too soon.

This bit struck a chord...

More recently, in what many saw as a thinly-veiled reference to Facebook, current chief executive Tim Cook said: "If a business is built on misleading users, on data exploitation, on choices that are no choices at all, it does not deserve our praise. It deserves reform."

That could be more applicable to Amazon though I'm happy wth anything that disrupts those business practices.

Oh hell yes. And any others that hide the details deep in the 'fine print' of an agreement and make it tortuous to opt out of that part.

Have not tried it yet for the iPhone/iPad but for Mac OS Big Sur it is a big file - 5.3gb and it takes forever and an hour to download and install with the screen going black a few times.

Here's the information on the additions-changes.
