What's this??

I found this in a box of old stuff.
What is it?? It's metal and looks vaguely like a sort of pipe, but has a hole in the back at the bottom??
Its really small - about 8cm (I put it back in the box before I measured it!!
)

That makes sense given where it came from (My BDad, possibly his Dad!)

Here's mine, given to me as a birthday present a few years back. Mmmm, it needs a bit of a polish . . .
I can't make the right noises with it as you need to be a little bit LGBT and I was in the army, not the navy
