We thought it would be s good idea to start the boy's Daytona race bike. It has a Lithium battery. It all comes on, but won't turn over. It is just above freezing.
Is it ok to jump start it? I have seen conflicting advice online.
Also, I think it is too cold to charge. So...
We're fucked, right? For now?

Re: Lithium batteries and jump starting
From what I know Lithium batteries don't like sub zero temps. Some folk briefly turn on lights to activate/warm up the battery before trying to start.
There are obvious difficulties with a race bike tho...

Re: Lithium batteries and jump starting
Lithium batteries can vary a lot as can the electronics controlling them.
The battery probably has a high charge/discharge rate but I don't know what will happen if you connect it directly to a lead battery.
