Why do people who build these stylised cafe racers always give them such extreme riding positions? The bars on that are lower than the seat. It will all but unrideable.

For me, that's not a cafe racer. That's a bike with a shit seat on it.

I'd like to see more of what other people like and dislike though as it's good for discussion.... but that is bringing nothing for me personally.

Agreed. That T500 to me looks like a nice clean simply bike that I want to get on and ride. The one at the top of the thread looks exactly like you say, an art project that is pure design over substance and makes your back ache just looking at it

That looks like a home made frame as well. Nice clean lines.

Nope from me too.

It just doesn't gel.

Those pipes are too low leaving a huge negative space above the rear wheel.

A brown seat off a bobber and doubling as a tank pad is plain wrong.

The fairing and headlamp assembly throws all my weird switches,not in a good way.

I like the Cobra.

I've already used this one today (about the Ducati special) but styling by Armitage Shanks

The 380 was a bit wheezy. Should have used the 550.

Seems they used Tony Foales software for it.

If I remember right when I was a teenager a bloke from round the corner had a GT 380, pretty sure it had three cylinders and four tailpipes. It had a dummy tailpipe.

Even then it was an old bike cos it was about 1990 or so.

All the Suzuki triples had 4 silencers, the middle pot was split and went to the the bottom two smaller silencers.

All the standard pipes weighed about half a ton. I had 3 spannies on my GT750 and was much quicker and sounded amazing

I remember seeing a kettle 750 somewhere, jeez those engines were wide.
The kettles got drag raced a bit and I found pics of one with Lectrons and a billet head which I assume would have removable dome combustion chamber inserts (or at least that seems the way with a few motocross billet heads) so they can run different dome inserts within the waterjacket head cover to change squish with ease.
Damn site simpler to alter the shape of the combustion chamber if you can just pull the insert and fire it on the lathe than having to fight on with a head for several cylinders.

And these are the motocross versions of the cylinder heads Ive seen in the local MX shop.
Well, actually this one is for a KX500 and the ones I saw in the local shop were for 125s but the principle is the same.








actually, I could have done without looking on the VHM cylinderhead site cos uptil tonight I never knew they did KX500 heads and especially didn't know they did the ones with the chainsaw style decompression valve to aid starting.
Bastard thing has just gone on my wishlist.
