Only because i think you'd hate the Ducati 1199 Panigale which is the most amazing machine ever built.

I was in a similar situation to you, I only rode for commuting. I can't remember the last time I rode for the sake of it.

Have to say, the auld Bonneville is rapidly changing my mind. Objectively it's shit....but every time you ride it, its an event. The sound, the vibes, the smell. You've already got a classic though

Try something different. Soemthing like a Xdiavel.

I was in a similar situation, I bought an EMTB instead, and I'm seriously pleased that I did, it's ace, I send more time on it than I do on the motorbikes I've got.
I don't see a reason for you to buy a new bike, get the TDR out and ride it.
Though I can also see the enjoyment of sailing, I did a sailing course 30 years ago as a team building exercise for work, it was really good fun.

I suspect nothings going to do it for you now as you've become just too old and farty , but if there's a chance you haven't , I reckon this isn't a bad idea-

I have taken early retirement - grand plans to travel and all that have been somewhat canned by Covid. Anyway - my bother has a very nice Jeaneau 33 ft Bermudian Sloop boat, that he keeps at Brightlingsea. Being retired, is is out on it maybe every other day ... so I decided to get back into sailing ( all my previous experience were dinghy soloing, fast dinghy sailing, RYA sailing instructor, then may years of windsurfing. And a little bit of big boat sailing thrown in.
We've done a few trips this year ...

TBH, I find it like watching paint dry ... I imagine the Fastnet Race could be could fun - but the thought of sailing the Atlantic - or even the North Sea to Antwerp, leaves me cold. It is just hours of nothing happening!!
Pat of that is the location - I am sure if you are in the South West, The Solent, West Wales, or the West of Scotland big boat sailing could be great way to pass the time.
It's as boring as shit in the South East of England

As for a bike - get a Royal Enfield and do some track days on it ....

Mojo is an odd thing. At the beginning of this year (and years past) I was a bit in the doldrums too,then lockdown happened along with some lovely weather.All of a sudden I was gagging to get out on the bike,probably because I wasn't allowed. Anyway,Covid fired up my mojo all over again and before you could say,'ya silly old kunt',I found myself in a dealers buying a new bike!

I went for something totally different from my usual sports bike choice. I liked the pictures,but I didn't even ride it before splashing the cash. Unheard of,for me.

Good job I love the thing,it could have been a costly mistake.

Everyone's different,but sometimes a rash buy can reignite the fun factor.

Yeah, I'm fully expecting it to be long gone (assuming it's not already) and he'll bring a V4S or something similar, but stranger things have happened (well, maybe) , and the Enfield might make it to next May before it joins the long line of Couchy playthings that are cast aside...

Just go sailing , nothing wrong with that. In time you will feel like going for a ride again.

I'm exactly the opposite, I can sit all day watching the water go by, my favourite thing is to get out so there is nothing on the horizon in any direction and just sail, there is nothing to look at except the water and the odd dolphin. The time goes by in a flash and 8hrs seems to turn into 1hr.
Occasionally I'll pull the sails tight and put the boat on it's rail close hauled and have some fun, but it's mostly just about taking it steady and enjoying being on the water.

I've always been fine with my own company and I've sat alone in jungles or deserts for weeks on end, it just suits me.

I guess it is horses for courses. My brother is absolutely obsessed with every aspect - and especially navigating the mud channel of east England. I cam imagine sailing in the balmy blue waters of Southern Turkey, or Chesapeake Bay would be different?
I do envy you ownership of a heritage boat.
