Cam chain tensioner - KTM 990

Just a quick question as the workshop manual isn't quite clear enough.

Bought a new bike in February - KTM 990 SM - and it's just had a service inc. cam chain tensioner replacement. On the front cylinder there is a slight weep of oil from the tensioner cover bolt/cap/thing until the engine is up to temp. I'm guessing it's the washer being slightly crap, maybe old washer re-used. Can I remove the bolt and replace the washer without having to do all the tensioner re-setting, engine to TDC, etc., or do I need to follow the manual to the letter?

Follow it to the letter , better than throwing the chain.
When you have done it all...check it again and then check it again. Then roll it over by hand without the spark plug watching for any tightness.
