Right my late 2011 MacBook Pro gave up last week, tried everything and it’s dead. Something to do with CPU or something.
What do I need to be able to remove the HDD and be able to plug it in to another MacBook and use it to get the pictures and stuff off of it.

The drive on a 2011 Mac shouldn't be encrypted, unless you've turned 'filevault' on. If you have then encryption key should be linked with your icloud/apple ID.
