Anyone ever done theirs and what have I got to look forward to?

350 hard miles on the bike and I snap it putting it on the centre stand in my garden.

I’ve been to A&E and they’re so busy I’ve got to go back tomorrow.

Full tear or partial?

I partially tore mine, after a car pursuit and a foot chase (I really should have known better tbh!!).

It took just over 2 years to get it sorted, I had rehab and then multiple rounds of shock wave therapy for mine. I still don't trust it 100% though.

A colleague snapped his. He said the intensive assessment involved no X-rays or MRI, just standing on the good leg with the other knee on a chair. The hospital Doc just looked at the angle of the foot and said 'Ah...I'm afraid...'

Then it was a surgery job and he was in St Helier hospital* in Carshalton long enough for us to organise a visiting rota.

*I thought it was a Victorian dump and should have been demolished and replaced years ago but it was only opened in 1940!, so it was less than 60 years old at the time. I think there's talk that it may be replaced - probably by the time it's 100 years old.

To busy. Royal by any chance? Its A&E is like a UN war zone if not full of junkies and drunks. I wonder if heading to the Borders General is a better option.

It was the Royal and yep, A&E was rammed, a 6 hour wait.

I thought I’d got lucky when they wheeled me to minor injuries only to find they were short staffed and closing for the night.

So I’ve got to go back this afternoon where I’ll find out a bit more.

We can only dream of a 6 hour wait!

Partial tear 5 years ago and about 3-4 months to fix it at the age of 52.

Only an hour wait this time. This is on for 8 weeks minimum.

If it had been the left leg it wouldn’t have been so bad but I can’t even drive.

I ruptured mine (twice) - not completely snapped.
1) Drove to Carcasonne in France, and decided that a quick jog would be good. 1 km in, I felt a ping in my achillies - and carried on going for 6 km
2) Two years after the above, I thought it was a good idea to run again. Cooling down afterwards, just felt a slight pain.

Specialist told me I had scar tissue, odeama etc trapped adn i was give three choices - surgical snapping, wait til it snaps or see how it heals (6 weeks). It took 6 months and left me with an achillies that was about 4 x wider that the one on the right.

In the end it was solved by "dry needling" - under a general a thick needle was driven though it - and all the gunge and scar tissue broken down.
I had a huge fear of ending up in the boot you have - they told me at least 3 months
