I'd been in a couple of UBERs where they'd had OOONOs in and I asked one guy about it, he said they were okay if he was busy in traffic and wasn't looking at waze etc. Intrigued, I loooked into them and found, like Waze, they are only as good as the community using them as they mostly rely on users input for (mobile) speed cameras and hazards, pot holes etc.

Anyway I kinda like the simplicity of them and could certainly see the advantages of having one on my bike around London. By chance I found an OOONO 2 on Vinted and scored it for £30. Sadly, I don't think the magnetic mounts are strong enough to keep it safely fixed in place on a bike, so haven't been able to use it for its intended purpose. I did take it with me when we went away with my camper last week, but I guess there aren't many users in rural north Essex, as we didn't get alerts for potholes anywhere they were, and I guess there has been no mobile speed traps on the back roads either, although it did alert me to the ones on the A12.

So, would I recommended one? Probably not for a car tbh, as Waze is better, but it does have a use and I'm not reselling it, so i guess I find some value in it? I don't have waze on my bike but until i can get a suitable holder for the OOONO, its unusable on there, which is a shame as its probably well suited for a bike.

TLDR; Its kinds like the difference between a satnav and a BeeLine iyswim?

I took this with me on my trip to Cornwall in our campervan. I got no pot hole warnings, so i expect there is little to no ooono community down there doing live reports?

But I did get lost of mobile speed camera warnings. At no point was there a camera van or cop with speed gun there, so i suspect its taking its info from the database rather than community reporting, as Waze was giving the same warnings most times. But I did here the ooono's audible warnings when I hadn't heard (or seen) the waze ones. So, I'm keeping it now. Still wont be telling people to go out and buy one, but I do now see it has a value.

If it was working properly it would have been alarming near continuously in Devon, and not much better in Cornwall. We have potholes a plenty in the South West!

It does work properly, but that's the point of it, the ooono relies on its community creating live alerts, in the same way "Wazers" put in live reports.
