46mph on the A50 near Leicester when the limit was 40mph, and going at 78mph along the A43 near Brackley with a temporary 50mph limit
78mph is walking pace for Guy!
They also whacked him with a total of ÂŁ1,329 in fines, costs and victim surcharges.

2 offences for a ban seems excessive, even if the 78 was a little hefty.

Court papers show Martin reached at least 12 penalty points on his licence and accepted that he must now serve a six-month driving ban.

Easily done these days. The fuckers are obsessed with arbitrary velocity numbers.
If you keep your powder dry for the country roads and behave elsewhere, chances are you'll stay clean.

FWIW, and I doubt it made any difference in his case, any crash barriers through roadworks are only designed and tested for the lower speed (50 where he was nicked).
If there was a speed limit in place, it won't have been short-term (eg overnight) works. Unless he was unlucky and overtook a copper, it could have been average speed cameras - they're fairly obvious and well signed.

The met are often down the Embankment with their speed guns. Ita dual carriageway ffs. I could at least understand if they were targeting backroads near schools and shops etc but the Victoria Embankment!

Ya villain
Norman Stanley Fletcher Smethurst, you have pleaded guilty to the charges brought by this court, and it is now my duty to pass sentence. You are an habitual speeder, who accepts points as an occupational hazard, and presumably accepts a ban in the same casual manner.

Last one was taking the blade to FWR for an MOT at 0830 Saturday morning just near the Elephant ...just wound it on for a moment to hear the exhaust ...well you know the rest.

I spent ten years in the 80's as a despatch rider happily zipping along at whatever speed the work level demanded, now I hate going into London, crawling along at snail's pace, I couldn't ride there, the Ducati doesn't like doing 30 let alone 20, noooo.

And what happened to the â10% + 2â mph idea? Yes yes I know itâs discretionary, but still. That would give you 24 as ok, and I have a slight anxiety that people now spend more time checking the numbers on their digital speedo than watching whatâs happening around them.
In olden times you just needed the needle to be roughly in the right area, now you need to be âdead onâ, as they say in NI.

Because that's the threshold for nicking!

That was to which I was referring to, not GMâs previous sins, which may have contributed to HIS punishment.
