Didn't the US have them all crushed so Iran couldn't maintain their fleet :)

EDIT: oh, the GPZ1000 was the predecessor to the Tomcat, did you edit the thread I'm sure it said ZX10.

The RX is worth a punt for that money. They were a bit of a disappointment after the 900R,but sort/delete the anti dive stuff and they are a better bike. The anti dive used to pump up the front,so the brake never had the same feel twice, which caught out a lot of folk. A mate had one which was one digit different reg plate than my 900R. I did a fair bit of work on his over time.

In 1992 I bought my C2 ZZR like this for little money

My '83 GPz11 & this 750 have the same anti-dive fuckery on them
Apart from enough desert dust to grow taters the RX isn't in bad condition. The only corrosion appears to be the chain. Mate in Tx is looking for parts to finish his '86 RX-A1 resto. The inner fairing panels & rear fender have turned gray, but stuff called Solution Finish is supposed to sort that.
The more I look at the 750 the more I like it & the asking price isn't too bad ($550, gonna offer $350 & haggle). It's a runner... but if the tags are years out of date & it's still in the DMV system (usually 7 years) that could kybosh the plans owing to the penalties assessed for back dues. If it's out of the system then things are easier. You just tell the DMV that you've had it for years & lost the title ;)
However, it may be non-opped, so no back dues owed.

A session with the pressure washer & paint correction should have it looking tits. Needs a battery, fork seals & the carbs going through. If the paint cleans up well I'd delay doing the Rainey scheme on it. There are skads of parts on Ebay.

Went back to look at the 1000RX today. Turns out the Yamaha's aren't XS11's, they're XJ650's & two of them have turbo parts.

When I was there the other day the guy I dealt with wasn't the actual seller, but he was there today (apparently he was "in hospital on morphine" during the first visit).. and now the price has changed because he thought I was looking at a different bike (WTF?)
Today the deal is "$350 for the Ninja & for $50 more you can take all four Yamaha's" (which I have less than zero interest in).
Still interested, just need to sort out transport for it, & the GPz750 which is about 20 miles South of here. Spoke with that guy today. May ride over there on Sunday if it isn't pissing down.

Pretty well done that. I bet it's an improvement.

Paintwork is a bit dowdy.

Went to look at the GPz750 this morning... noticed bike shaped things under a tarp on a large trailer next to the GPz...

'93 ZX11-C3... uh oh...

Then he told me he's already taken a $600 deposit on it...

Don't let anyone scare you away from that quick 8 week restoration project because those 9 months are the most important 5 years of your life

More like a sculptor looking at a pebble and thinking 'I could have done something with that when it was a rock'.
