Friday thread, where did the start of summer go ?
It tried to arrive, but then has stumbled a bit...
Fri. Sorting the last bits of house purchase, then waiting 4 months lol. Bike sorting, prep and fettling.
Sat. Riding in Wales with @crust and the boy (for a little while). Coffee, cake and beer.
Sun. Driving van in Wales while the boy rides lol.
Usual weekend really.

Re: Friday thread, where did the start of summer go ?
Currently in a hotel in London with my wife for a cheeky overnight. We had a cheeky overnight last weekend in Brighton to pick up my suit, but the fitting wasn’t quite right so back yesterday in London to pick up ( and it fits )
Today: opening and giving the key note for a new course with Imperial College. Lunch with wife. Go home. Eldest back from uni in Wales. Walk dogs. Love having everyone home. Daughter got into her uni, so planing visit.
Tomorrow: dogs. MTB. First of the year. My knees are fucked so I’m hoping getting out on the bike will help. Saturday evening: meal out somewhere. I forget.
Sunday: it doesn’t get more exciting than this… I’m applying the next application of lawn treatment to my, erm, lawn. Have put down the ‘liquid gypsum’ next its clay drainer. Then, in two weeks I can use the lawn pack stuff to hopefully give me a good lawn because currently it looks like the Somme. Oh, and a roast with the family.
Have a good one all

First delivery today is addressed to a house as it's the registered address of a steel company five miles away. Boss won't listen so some poor sod is getting a four ton of pallets dropped in his driveway. They should listen to the drivers. New lorry coming tonight and as usual it's poverty spec with no A/C. After that probably an early night after walking the houndsm
Tomorrow will be mostly seeing what the RT needs for MOT and getting it booked, Sunday will be spent on YouTube. Wife working both days from home.

12 hour day at work today , seeing if my useless and lazy trainee is pulling his finger out now his assessments have started.
Sat and Sun will be dog walking and enjoying the weather (hopefully) with maybe an MTB as well.

Today - dressing change at 9:30, no longer the stress/panic attack inducing effort as almost nothing is sticking to the gauze anymore!!
Seeing the social worker at 10:30
Physio at 15:15 for about an hour
Tomorrow - physio at 9am - only for about 15 mins on the machine that bends my leg for me! Then, sit and look at the view, look at lego and cross stitch kits online and wait for meals!! If it's nice I'll probably load up the kindle and roll out to sit in the sun for a bit
Sunday - same as Saturday, minus the excitement of physio. A friend has said that he might be able to drop by sometime (he's doing a transfer, I'm pretty close to Chambery airport!) but that's all the excitement of the day, a possible visit!!
How will I ever cope with this rock n roll lifestyle

Re: Friday thread, where did the start of summer go ?
Well, in the sunny bits of last week I got the pollarding of the yew trees done so I guess my mission this week, should I decide to accept it, will be to get front and back mowed/strimmed. I just haven't been handed my job card yet.
Done a bit of 'Swedish death cleaning' so have a bunch of stuff to distribute to charity shops then, maybe, it's skip time and start on the garage and garage loft....again.
Might do the last of the loft lagging in the bit of the year between 'too hot' and 'too cold'.
In between I might get a bit of arty/crafty stuff done.
Oh...and continue to laugh at UPS and their complete failure to find my address which every other delivery company has managed to do, so far. Then go to Halfords and buy what they failed to deliver.

I have a couple of DIY jobs, cutting and fitting a plinth in the kitchen and restarting the decking job, which involves screwing down a lot of decking boards and replacing an upright support. I must start doing it but not looking forward to it.
Apart from that no real plans!

Re: Friday thread, where did the start of summer go ?
Today, last day of work before 10 days off, taking advantage of Bank holidays and a shift in employer’s holiday year* which has thrown up a few unused days, so why not.
Plenty of jobs to do around the house & gardens to keep me busy but the time off will also be used to spend time with kids over Easter weekend assuming they wish to and to try and find some decent new shoes without having to travel too far to try them on as I CBA ordering online, trying, returning, reordering etc.
Toy car is booked in for a MOT on Monday which shouldn’t be an issue but I really need to decide whether to keep it as I’m averaging less than 1,000 mile per year in it.
* Being moved to coincide with new business year and to move the usual rush of using up annual leave in December, my view is they’ve just moved the problem to March / end of tax year…

@Docca - where in Brighton is the suit coming from - Gresham Blake or Hugo Morris? If it is the latter, they have form!Docca wrote: Fri Mar 27, 2026 6:23 am Currently in a hotel in London with my wife for a cheeky overnight. Re: Friday thread, where did the start of summer go ?
My BD today, so out for dinner and alcohol with my wife this evening.
Sat - probably prepping my lads car for sale (read that as filling a bin bag with rubbish and wet-vac of seats etc, plus a polish of bodywork!) as he's given up trying to own a car in Brighton and not get 10 parking tickets per month
Sun - youngest is off to Vietnam for 4 weeks on her own, so cue drama and tears when we take her to Heathrow!

Re: Friday thread, where did the start of summer go ?
Another action packed one for me- in a couple of hours we're jumping on the train to Wem-ber-lee to go and watch a load of people with dodgy haircuts dive on the floor and pretend to be hurt, but hopefully there will be some exciting football played too, then
Tomorrow we're off down to Brighton where my middle son lives, for his engagement party in a pub/restaurant there which should be good fun, and
Sunday it's a day at Ascot races with my brother Kev and his clan- about 20 of them , so should be a good do!

Re: Friday thread, where did the start of summer go ?
Today: Drove home from Plymouth, including driving almost the entire length of the M5 (sadly I got off at Junction 2 as there was an accident up ahead and I wanted to get home).
I also did some shopping at Taunton Sainsbury's while the car charged, and a couple of work calls at a service station in the arse end of nowhere.
Got home half an hour ago, alcohol and TV will be featuring in my near future.
Tomorrow: we've got Foil, Arms and Hog tickets for the evening, which I'm looking forward to.
Daytime may involve a bit of gardening if I can be arsed.
Sunday: over to a mates for a bit, no plans beyond that.

Re: Friday thread, where did the start of summer go ?
Bike ride tomorrow!
6 hours of cruising up to Worcester and back to pick up some leathers. I'm just hoping tomorrow is dry. Don't care about cold, but really dislike rain at the moment.
Sunday is probably going to be doing whatever the missus wants to get back into her good books...

I’ve not been impressed. I think it’s ended up ok, but only ok. Lovely people and I am an ugly cunt - so they had a challenge for sure.

Docca walked into Gresham Blake and asked the shop manager if they had a suit that’d fit him, to which the manager replied “if we do sir, someone is getting the sack!”.Docca wrote: Fri Mar 27, 2026 8:04 pmGresham Blake.Mr Moofo wrote: Fri Mar 27, 2026 12:27 pm@Docca - where in Brighton is the suit coming from - Gresham Blake or Hugo Morris? Hugo Morris don’t. They made me a suit - it was so tight i couldn’t breathe, the pockets were at different levels as was the check on the back of the suit. Thankfully they volunteered to refund all my money …

Re: Friday thread, where did the start of summer go ?
Friday. Wife to station, breakfast for daughter and then took a funeral for a much loved church member. Lots of people at the service, and it went smoothly with great love and dignity. Then to crem for the committal with the family. Back for the wake in the church hall, then a late lunch for my daughter. Back into the church to prepare things for tomorrow. Collected my wife from the station. Cooked dinner, went out and did some shopping, bought a very good bottle of wine. Back home to finish up the confirmation service booklet.
Saturday: Take my son for breakfast at the local cafe. Have Baptisms at 10am including a lady in her 40's who has found real life in following Jesus.
Ride/drive down to Sevenoaks for a meeting at a church with solar panels on the roof, it is similar to mine, so I'm keen to find out how it all worked out and whether the investment is worth it as the paperwork is huge!!
Sunday: Palm Sunday, big church service at 9.30am, publish Banns for a couple getting married next month and meet with the visitors who have arrived to worship at our church. Home to rest.
Monday: Doctors appt to have my Achilles looked at as it is very painful. Then take delivery of replacement car door as mine window regulator has fritzed and it is cheaper to buy a door and stick that on than pay someone to fit a regulator.
