To cut a long story short….. I pulled away with my round lock attached to the front disk, fell off… sick head I know.

I had a disk lock on the front disk and drove away, I fell off, now front brake won’t hold pressure whist I move, but when pump the front brake lever the pressure comes back and the front brake work, but when move again the pressure goes again, so whilst standing still the pressure stays and when I move it goes.

There are no leaks of brake fluid and I can’t see any damage to the caliper, i also removed it and re fitted it to make sure it was on correctly

Have a bet the disk or something,

Sounds like a warped disc could be a possibility.

If you ride with the brake on a bit, does the lever pulse slightly in your hand?

If so you've bent/warped the disc.

Another vote for a bent disc.

I did this to a ZZR600 many years ago by riding off with a disc lock still in place.

Might be a silly question but take they safely fix it or is that not even worth considering, my 2 local shops open soon and I’ll see if they can help. Can’t go too far with no front brake ideally

I'm not sure your typical bike fixer will have the kit to true up a bent disc (someone like motorliner might). Even if it can be trued up, I doubt I'd trust it.

A new or 2nd hand disc would be the best option.

You could go aftermarket, but you need two if you wanted them to be a visual match.

If you need a temp fix, they might be able to remove the bent disc and wedge something in the caliper, the other disc caliper should still work then, the problem would then be if iits the side with the ABS reluctor ring.

I wouldn't mess around with bodging brakes to be frank.

New disc and pads (second hand if absolutely necessary), but you can get away with replacing just the damaged side for now.

So i went there, complete shambles, he said he would look, he looked,took the caliper off, come about at 30 mins later and said sorted, i rode it 2/3 meters and nothing had changed. He also tried to charge £30 and said new pads will sort it.

I am not once for bodging the brakes at all.


Also yes to the question earlier about pulsing, i can feel it whilst moving the holing the front brake.

Hard to say. I've not heard of the brand and they are Chinese. I wouldn't personally.

The discs are £197 each for Honda OEM on the Fowlers website.

Just replace the knackered one

I've seen where the alloy carrier on Chinese discs has cracked and broken apart. I wouldn't fancy that!

Get a used OEM one off eBay if the £200 for new OEM is too salty for you. If you go that way then get it from a proper breaker so there's some kind of guarantee if it turns up with a warp in it.

Depends though - if you don't have stands to lift and remove the front wheel then you're paying labour, in that case I'd want it done first try and just buy OEM new.

I don’t mind getting a new one, seems less aggro than getting used and then finding out its bent as well, guessing ill need new pads as well,

I'd buy online. If there's plenty of meat on the pads,you don't need to replace them either.

Just dropped off a guy that’s very close to me he’s got a little workshop. It’s got some good reviews and was recommended rby a mate in the end so that’s good.

We put it on the Centre stand and he just laughed and said yeah, right hand disc is proper bowed
He’s gonna price it up and let me know when we go from there but he did say because he’s done 13/ 14,000 miles it might be worth replacing both discs because you’re gonna have one that’s really worn and one that’s brand-new. He’s like you don’t have to it it’s up to you but have a read and think about it and see what you wanna do.

The disc has a minimal service thickness cast into the carrier, if it's getting close swap it. If there's no major lip to the part that the pad doesn't sweep then I wouldn't bother replacing it.

I think I'd buy both discs if I could afford it, but having one worn disc and one new disc will be fine.
