Exploded knee anyone??

Day off Thursday and I already knew I was tired but the plan was to head to see a friend in a different resort and ski for a bitWork asked me if I could do a couple of hours early and I (maybe stupidly) said yes
Got to my mates at 9:30 instead of 8 or 8:30 and as the cloud was low, we sat and chatted and had breakfast. She called her hubby who works up high and the sun was shining.
In all honesty I should have bailed, was too tired but thought, it isn’t a difficult resort so I went
Cable car up to the pistes and the first 200-300m of piste was soft lumpy shitty snow. The sort I avoid like the plague. Managed two appalling turns a went down on the third
I’d felt something below my left knee click as I want down so was good and didn’t move till the sécuriste arrived to toboggan me down. Fucking hell moving hurt - wayyyy more than last time
Anyway. X-rays later and diagnosis « your knee has exploded »
Looking at the X-rays and ct it’s the tibia plateau and a bit more and the fibia (?) is chipped at the top as well
I REALLY want them to just do a half knee replacement as I’ll be walking in a couple or four weeks. The plate and screws is three months minimum
Anyway. Apparently heading down soon where I will meet the surgeon. I did make my feeling clear to the anaesthetist yesterday and he said he pass that on to the surgeon, so I expect it will be plate and pins
