I have a top floor bathroom, which is always about 10 degrees colder than everywhere else in the house. As we are currently having to use the shower, it's kind of noticeable in the morning.
I am assuming there should be some sore of baffles or louvres withing the unit to address thi. Cetainly the exit apeture just seems to be a bunch of concentric circles. And I cannot get up that high to repalce it.

As the bathroom (other than at the moment) doesnt get used that often, I was considering some sort of cover ...

There's usually a couple of flaps in ceiling mounted ones that gravity keeps shut until the airflow from the fan lifts them* but dunno about wall mounted ones as gravity won't work.

* as can a strong wind so they can go 'clackclackclack'all night long in the en suite

The 3 wall mounted ones we have here all have one of these on the outside wall



They do flap about if the wind is strong enough

Fans with vent covers that open and close when the fan turns on and off are available.

That’s what i was expecting. But that’s not what i have.
Currently it has been isolated and covered with CD - which is a perfect size

These fans are fitted from the inside and have a baffle / flap device in the tube.

No worries, IIRC, you can also buy extensions for the telescope section for thicker walls.

I've always fitted the one way flap.type, like this

Jumping on this, is there anyone to stop them flapping???
We have them and it makes it sounds like a basket ball being bounced

There are different types, I have a flappy section inside a piece of duct. The exit for mine is covered so I don't need to try and stop rain getting in.

Try fitting one of these, there's a flap inside the cowl, you could stick a bit of foam to stop the flappy moise.
