Where do we stand on this issue?

For example,if you bought your bike new and your bike was within the 2 year warranty period,would you risk invalidating your cover when doing modifications?

When I broached the subject of ECU flash with my local dealer,he said this is one particular mod which will scupper your cover.

Would you wait until the bike was outside the warranty period,or just say bugger it and go for it anyway?

1. How would they know?
2. If it had a recall for anything software related they'd probably end up 'flashing' over your remap anyway.
3. Get a Hilltop one, it's completely invisible.

Mods like suspension etc I'll do. But ECU etc, nah, not for me

ISTR dealers can't just invalidate a warranty if you make any mods, but only for items the mod might reasonably effect.

They also can't invalidate a warranty because you've used another dealer for servicing, again ISTR.

When I bought our Merc Vito, I drove it from the dealers straight to a local garage that had remapped out previous van and car for him to do his magic on the Vito.

As it only had delivery milage on the clock he refused to do anything straight away. 5k miles later I was back getting it done.

Having said this, I've never remapped a bike because I've never really felt the need

I'm not chasing extra ponies,there's more than enough for my needs,but would you not be interested in a having your bike fuelling just perfectly and after junking the emissions stuff,being as good as it can be?

It's the rideability thing which appeals to me,though I've never gone beyond a power commander.

One of the first things I did to the Harley was flash a new map onto it, risk taker me.

But...... With my Speed Triple I didn't touch it or change anything in 13 years

Remapping is great if it's done right, but a bastard if it's done badly.

There's Christian Elkin in Randalstown,he offers a dyno run and reflashed using Woolich software. I have no word of mouth,but I suppose it wouldn't be difficult to find out.

There are plenty of car places like Torquetronix,but not all do bikes.

I’d risk it.
