I was looking at R36 Passats.

A lot are Japanese imports.

I thought they'd be really high road tax, in the £700+ area.

The Japanese import ones seem to show up as £195 a year on Autotrader and car data checkers. I imagine this is because they were 1st registered in the UK after 2017.

Any idea what you'd actually have to pay for road tax? I don't think I've ever found a definitive source.

Imports are registered has PLG if they have no recorded CO2 figure on the type approval certificate.
The T6 Volvo I had imported is currently £345 per year had it been an official UK car it would be £735 I believe.

Pony, you'd look like a proper Asian Boss in this...

The ad says it's only £360 a year VED.

Leather seats though. Wool is better as it's quieter.
