As i am getting older the cold is getting colder

2 winters ago i got my self a Keis heated gilet, its great, some times i wish i had got the jacket, but it helpās a lot. For the last 8/9 years ive used muffs through winter paired with some some winter gloves (nothing too bulky though)
My commute is 16 miles and 1/2 is on the A3, last when the temperature dropped i said to my self āwhy have cold handsā (muffs not yet fitted) bought a pair of Keis 701 heated gloves
Wow, why did i not do this sooner, amazing bit of kit.
Quite bulky, i spend more of the year in thin astar sports gloves, so i am not a massive fan of the bulk, but i rate getting home late with warm hands

I started with heated inner gloves*, then grips.
It was years before I bought a heated waistcoat - and instantly regretted not getting one much, much, earlier.
* Oh how my mates laughed as I looked like the kid at school with his gloves on elastic. Oh how I laughed, 20 miles later, when I was the only one who could undo a helmet strap

Absolute luxury.
Heated gear makes riding sooo much more enjoyable. My miles in Winter are limited to dry,non salty conditions,so you'd think wtf do I have the gear for? Because in Spring/Summer I have a habit of setting off early and it can be cool single figures. After an hour that cool becomes cold and I start to ride tense.
Oxford heated grips,Keis gilet and gloves. Like everyone says,I wish I'd bought them years ago. A genuine gamechanger.

I had ice formed on my shoulders and upper arms this morning
The heated grips and seat combined with the rukka thermals did a cracking job of keeping me toasty warm.

Given how much I'm enjoying my heated steering wheel lately I think a heated gilet, seat pad and gloves are on the cards.

It's a game changer, especially after having to scrape the ice off, mind you I had a heated screen in an S-max a few years back and that was fantastic. I got nervous whenever following a wagon though as replacement costs were $$$$$

I don't care where in the world I live in the future, I'm. never buying a car without heated everything!!
The heated (electric, not fan) screen is the best thing for someone with a spazzy arm cos scraping frost is a challenge with one and a half useful arms

; the heated steering wheel is amazing but sadly on mine it doesn't get hot before I get to work (it's a whole six minute commute) but the seat does warm up fast

)
It's freaking awesome to have the "winter pack"

If you do get a heated gilet or jacket, and it seems to have stopped working properly, first check that the heat controller hasn't become disconnected. Don't ask me how I know.

I have heated nowt. Pulled the fuse out the heated grips on the bike not long after i got it as the light was annoying me. Gloves are lucky if they are spit proof and never used anything thicker than my jeans for years. Bike does go away for winter but that tends to be when the morning frost starts is i dont need it for commuting. The weekend leisure ride would be a challenge calling it leisure when ice is about. Car and van has a heater but if i am lucky it will puff out breath heat by the time i get to my first customer. The van did have heated mirrors but i have used them to skelp dodgy delivery drivers parking to many times the elements are gone. Funny as the direction motors still work.

I knew a guy that made one from a heated seat out an old Volvo. Added a 12v rheostat. stitched into some clothing and plugged into the bike.

The older type controller plugs had a tendency to disconnect,I taped mine in position. The newer connectors are more positive.

This is the triangular type. It has two connectors inside the gilet, and in theory doesn't get pulled out if you step off the bike with the lead still connected. But I have to tug at it a bit to access it, and I think that's what did it. Oddly, it's LEDs still lit up with only one lead disconnected.

My last couple of bikes have had a heated seat and I didnāt realise how much difference having a warm arse makes. The heat seems to rise up through your core.
Definitely getting soft.

There's a lot of blood passing through the, err, groinal area and adding a bit of heat is, as you say, core-warming. It's the nearest thing to central heating on a bike.
Iv'e never had heated clothing, just heated grips and seat - didn't have the heated seat on all my modern bikes but having had one once it became a 'must-have' from then on.

So had the gloves a few months now.
How the hell did I manage the last 4 years without them.
Iāve had heat grips and muffs and then both together and the gloves are much better .
