I hadn't heard of them,but apparently they've been going for 40 years and sold over 30 million bikes. Worth a watch if you are China curious.
Because my heart,rather than head rules my purchases,I can't see me ever wanting a Chinese bike,but even my opinion has moderated from 'never' to at least a 'viable' option.

I've read some of these Chinese bikes can suffer vibration and many suffer poor fueling low down. My Benelli is definitely jumpy low down, not a massive problem but it's there. But in general these cheap Chinese bikes are pretty good imo.

I like the Voge 800x rally, lots of stuff comes standard like heated grips and seat. That Zontes 703f seems well reviewed aswel, though 1 or 2 do mention vibes. Plenty of bike for the money for sure.

I can't see me buying a bike made in China or Thailand unless they seriously up their quality, I'll be sticking with (expensive) bikes made in Japan, and I'm aware that some Hondas and Yamahas are made in Thailand, I'm including these in the bikes I wouldn't buy.

After having seen the difference in quality from the Shimano factory in Malaysia vs what comes out of their factory in China, I'm with the big cheese on this, plus the dodgy Chinese regime makes me avoid where possible.

Looked at Honda's CB500s or the 750 NC range? Considered a Triumph Speed Triple or Tiger, or the Bonneville?

All made in Thailand.

It matters very little where a thing is made, it matters massively who wrote and or implements their quality systems.
I'd have a Triumph tomorrow with no worries, but something direct from China or elsewhere in the far east I'd have concerns over longevity of the product.

I deliver to a place that shifted a load of CF Moto quads to farmers, it eas all good at the start but now they're starting to cime back under warranty anf it's turning out to be "a wile handlin" as they say in that part if the world.

Won't ever effect me as I tend to buy older, high mileage but well maintained bikes and I can't see much of thr Chinese stuff making it into 75k plus territory.

Is there a directory or list of brands / bikes / factory locations?

And does that include where, for example, assembly is in one country from elements (eg motors) built elsewhere?

And there's probably no chance of identifying where components are manufactured.

Chinese brands seem to come and go in very rapid timescales. Dealers are always scarce and perhaps not fully commited. Spares support is generally dire. The business model reminds me of the Eastern European (Skoda, Lada, et al) car brands ion the early days. Cheap, loaded with cheap 'luxury' items, and variable in quality. Buy at your peril!

My lad has brought a QJ svt650x demonstrator home and from a quick look over I’m quite impressed with the quality considering 6 grand price tag.

Brembo brakes, Marzocchi adjustable suspension, heated grips and seat, 20L tank, tubeless spoked wheels, hard luggage,adjustable screen, Vstrom engine as far as I can tell.

Not a QJ bike, but MCNs Kove had a failed shock

Thought this was potentially pertinent. Copying a well proven part may well not perform the same I'd guess.
A trip back to Kove UK revealed the main seal on the rear shock had failed. The shock is a copy of a well-proven KYB part and had performed well up until… it didn’t.

Then again Honda are having to replace 1000 Hornet and CBR600 engines due to excessive oil consumption and oil starvation. The mighty H fail! Does make you wonder what corners have been cut to get those budget prices. I know several people have commented on Honda build quality recently.

A few more close up pics.

It’s actually a very nice ride, brakes and suspension are extremely good with less fork dive than expected when hard braking.
Headlight is great according to junior.Seat is comfy but wide so it feels like a stretch to the ground more so than my tenere with its narrow seat but greater height.

The Hornet 1000 doesn't look well made, I suspect it isn't made in Japan, but it's a 1000cc bike for under £9K, I think my CB1000R was around £12K when it was new in 2020, I paid £8.5K for it in 2023 with 4000 miles on it, nearly as much as a new Hornet
