There's a kind of brutality to it that I like, but I'd prefer it in black.

I semi like the 80s style colours but they are a bit much! I'm also assuming that starting with a Thunderace with some tuning/weight loss would have been a far easier/better starting point and probably a better bike but then that's rarely the point of these things.

That's a lot of power through an FZ frame, I would've gone for FZ bodywork on a Chunderarse.

Great story about a guy overcoming the odds. It interests me for that reason, rather than an example of a custom build.

Yeah, the graphics/paint job are all a bit secondary to the story but, all the same, it's quite a build.
(And it gets ridden).

I knew a guy who raced an FZ with a FZR1000 Genesis engine in it. That was back in the 80s.

There were a few OWO1s with litre engines.
Same with some R7s

I've got a 911cc FZ750 race engine sat in my garage, you can't tell it from a 750cc FZ750 engine, it has FZR1000 barrels and pistons on an FZ750 bottom end. Peter Day had (and may still have) a couple of ex Belgarda WSB OW01s that are 820cc.
