Any recommendations for insurers who do multi bike policies ?

My current policy for 3 bikes with Carole Nash runs out soon, got the renewal quote emailed through and noticed they had one of the bikes recorded as having an alarm and immobiliser, never owned a bike with an alarm so no idea where they got that from.

Rang them up to notify them of the error and they are now saying they can’t quote me!

Neither of the other 2 bikes have alarm or immobiliser, all are in a locked, brick built garage.

60 years old with max no claims, last years premium was about £130, I’m baffled why they can’t quote me now.

I'm with Hastings, unless something has changed in the last year their multi bike policy can have as many bikes on it as you like as long as the total value of them all isn't over £20k.

I've been with Express insurance this last year, runs out soon. Think about 250 for 3 bikes. Also carole nash I believe. Should get quote soon.

A fair few of the classic boys with loads of bikes insure with Peter James. I've always gone local,but prices are getting daft here.

Happy to suggest giving Devitt a try, although I've only got one bike insured.

I switched to them last year from Bennets and swapped over to a new bike earlier this year - my renewal came in yesterday and it didn't give me any reason to phone them up, or anyone else.

IIRC I'm with Devitt via BMW with both Rocksters on the policy.

Hastings are saying they can’t offer cover and can’t give a reason why, this is odd, never had a problem before, nothing has changed.

I'd be tempted to start investigating the freedom of information and data related laws...it's starting to sound like there's some anomaly on your claims history or something.

Or they're just struggling to find an underwriter who'll cover 3 bikes, in Gregor's area, or similar.

Fair point. Odd that the first would happily renew if alarms were fitted too. Wonder what would happen if, for an experiment, Gregor asked for a quote and said 'Yes, all alarmed'.

(Wonder if hitting 60 years old is a significant thing?)

Yeah, I think underwriters still like alarms, even though they're practically useless in the real world.

I've got a 2016 R1200GS, 1992 GSXR1100N and a 2024 650 Gold Star on one policy with Hastings, I've used them for several years with various combinations of bikes and never had a problem.

I suspect it's the KDX that's causing the issue, the underwriter probably doesn't like Grey imports.

I think that could be it, although Carol Nash/ Ageas have covered the KDX for the last 2 years .

I’ve got to say none of the brokers I’ve been speaking to seem very helpful or can give me any explanation why they can’t cover all 3.

There was at time when Carole Nash were knowledgable and easy to deal with, all I’m getting is “computer says no” with a thick South African accent.

Devitt have online quoted £200 for the beemer and Yamaha including RAC breakdown.

I've still not got my quote off Express yet, runs out on the 25th. I've just tried Devitt online, 3 bikes is £261, not much more than last year. Then I tried Carole Nash £463. Well, Express are Carole Nash sort of, so we'll see, otherwise it's Devitt.

Probably try another first.

Just got renewal quote. Last year £252, this year £245. That's with Express insurance services. Paperwork also says Carole Nash and Aviva, so wtf I'm with I'm not too sure.

Devitt was £261 which I was OK with. 3 bikes over 700cc.

The guy said cover is getting refused on some big trail bikes, KTMs etc, I’m guessing increased theft.

Finally sorted via Adrian Flux brokers with Aviva.Nice to deal with someone with a bit of knowledge rather than getting “computer says no”

£224 fully comp for all 3 bikes.

So not too bad apart from the hours of life wasted sorting it out.
