My Clarke 151te turbo is just about holding on to life but its end is nigh. Can anyone recommend a mig welder than can perform similar tasks… bodywork, up to 3mm steel. Needs to be gas mig. Doesn’t need to be professional kit costing the earth. Thanks.

Try and pick up a used Esab mig if you want a good sturdy reliable machine.
I bought a new Esab 160A mig around 32 years ago.
It was used daily in a busy garage welding up old rusty cars for about 12 to 13 years before the rust proofing / anti corrosion started to get better and then it started doing less work when the cars weren't rotting away.
In the time I have owned it all it has had replaced is the wire liner a few times, over and above consumables like tips and shrouds.
It is still working as good as it did when new and still a very capable machine.
My mate was looking to buy a mig and I gave him the same recommendation to buy a used Esab machine which he picked up for around £300 and he is very happy with it.

Factoid #347.3

Company I worked for many moons ago made Silicon Nitride welding nozzles for ESAB. Supposed to last longer, less prone to spatter build-up etc.
