Five Thousand Miles On A Naked Triumph

I've just booked my Chunnel crossing and first nights accommodation for Thursday so I guess I'm going.
My biggest reservation is my bike, because it's a naked Triumph. While it's a beautiful bike to ride and the reason I didn't chose a different bike is because once I get to the twisties, this is the bike I will crave, I'm not 100% confident it can take the pressure. I will be home just before the two year warranty runs out.
The bike: Triumph Street Triple RS 2023
Current Mileage: 10,200
Tyres: Michelin Road 6 (new)
Drive chain: DID X Ring, gold "bling" (almost new) sprockets, not Triumph (JT front with a rubber ring - dunno, not my choice as Triumph ones weren't available).
Brake pads: SBS RS (fairly new, taking spares)
It's booked in for an early 12k service tomorrow.
I removed the radiator and cleaned it, replaced coolant and have a radiator cover being delivered today so hope I get a chance to fit that before I go.
I'm traveling on my own, heading to Romania and HAVE to be there for 2nd September as I'm hosting a couple of fly-drive trips though I'd like to get there in time to chill first. I'll be taking a more northly route there, Belgium, Germany, Czechia, Slovakia, Hungary and a more southerly route back, Croatia, Slovenia, Austria, Italy. I may change my mind at any point, depending on time, money and bike.
I'll keep you all posted on my progress though I will update FB more regularly. I'm considering making the FB posts public so I can can just share links. Again, don't know - I'm making this one up as I go along

The bike will be fine, you'll be knackered, long distances on unfaired bikes will build your neck muscles up, my neck is as wide as my head.

Yes, that's my other reservation. It means that long blatts on main routes to make up time won't be easy - add wind and rain and I will be full of ibuprofen and self-loathing.
I'm used to doing high mileage on unfaired bikes, but would usually stick to smaller roads.

Both you and the bike will be fine. I just did that trip in reverse on a naked 500, and I am a bit older than you!
Enjoy!

What makes you think the bike won't take it, is that from a Triumph reliability point of view? Must admit if I was doing that on the GSXS I wouldn't have any worries about the bike, just the state of my arse and neck muscles if lots of motorway are on the cards.
Have a great trip though

Yup, reliability, build quality and customer service. The bike was sold to me new with 2 years European Triumph Assist Recovery however, when I phoned them last week to make sure my ducks were in a row they told me that the European cover was only for the first year. Doesn't say much for their expectations.
I am not too worried about my own fitness as used to touring on a Street Triple and can take days out whenever I need to. I have worked out that I only get cramp when I am dehydrated so will make an effort to keep my fluids up. I have some electrolytes.

Thank you. I was indeed following your progress however when I realised that there wasn't going to be any photos my interest waned a little

I based my expected mileage on your trip. Well done
I thought if I go out north and come back south I'll catch the best of the weather.

Just how shit is Triumph build quality if you have to worry about a 2023 bike with 10k on it being able to do 5000 more miles?
Have they taken over from Ducati as the joke reliability brand?

I've lost some confidence. I had a 2009 675 which had 63k when I sold it and it didn't miss a beat. My 2019 765RS had a list of issues, 2 replacement clutches and ended in replacement cams. I'll keep you posted.

Hopefully your 2019 one was a Friday afternoon job and this one will be good, you should be fine.

Have fun! If the weather on the continent is anything like it was in June/July for our bike trip - and as of today it pretty much is - you’ll be glad of being on a naked bike…

As said, the bike will be fine. And if not there will be decent bike shops all the way there and back.
I hope you have an awesome time.
It's possible the highs will be very high and the lows very low.

Sounds to me like you've got all the bases covered and you've done as much prep work as anyone can reasonably be expected to do. So get out there and enjoy!
Not sure how long this odyessy will take, but if you're in southern France any time between 17th September and 25th October, there's a place to crash and a fairly well-equipped garage if you need one.

Yup, reliability, build quality and customer service.....
Last Wednesday I phoned Triumph and spoke to the guy who is doing the service and he gave me his email address. I then sent him an email asking for a new rear tyre, rear brake pads and the clutch cable to be tightened on top of the service. This morning he sends me his inspection report and tells me that I need a new rear tyre. I phoned him and he says he never read the email.

Sound about right.
I've never known anyone in any line of work be capable of reading an email.

Hello from Brno, Czechia. Heading to a hotel in the mountains of Slovakia today. The bike is holding up well and me too. I have a broken rear indicator and have realised that it is my luggage that is doing it.
I am posting pics and updates publicly on FB if you want to follow here
