Open places for practice

Hey folks,

I'm looking for quiet, open paved areas in or near London where I can practice some slow-speed bike control – figure-eights, U-turns, braking drills, that sort of thing. Ideally something like a large empty car park, quiet industrial estate roads, or any tucked-away spots that bikers know and use for informal practice.

I’m not after a track day or formal training, just somewhere I can work on skills without dodging traffic or annoying pedestrians. Bonus if the surface is decent and it's safe/legal to be there without hassle.

Happy to travel a bit outside London too if there are good spots. Would love to hear your favourite go-to places or any hidden gems you've come across.

Thanks in advance!
Ride safe 🤘

@The Spin Doctor is a man that knows his London nooks and crannies for this sort of thing I think.

Look for offices 'to let', with their own parking space.

But have a 'FOD' walk about first. Pick up anything you wouldn't want in your tyres.

Large supermarkets, DiY places, etc, when they're not open, eg Sunday morning?

Be wary of time limits. Our local Tesco has 15 mins limit when the store is closed.

Some of the edge of London railway stations have big car parks, empty on Sundays... but they may have security cameras.

You may be able to make an arrangement with a pub owner with a big car park to get access early morning.

The other option is to find some quiet residential streets where you can ride a bit of a circuit exploiting tight turns from road to road to work on your slow control. Look for places with central greens so you can see what's around you.
