When I purchased my bike (new) in October 2023 I had it ceramic coated. I've heard various stories about it, some good and some bad but my experience has been fantastic. When I wash my bike I've spayed it with Muc Off cleaner, gone over it with a soft brush, rinsed it off, gone over it with a soapy sponge, rinsed that off (minimal effort at every stage) and the bike has come up as good as new. Water still beads up when it's wet which I believe is the coating. I haven't spayed it with AC50 or anything else protective as it doesn't seem to need it.

Now what do I do? Where do I go from here - do I get it valeted and ceramic coated again? How will I know it needs doing or has worn off?

I'm loving the minimal effort and don't want it to end.

I should think that when the water stops beading it will need redoing.

The place I had mine done offer 3,5 and 8 year coatings, though i'd imagine durability is determined by how much you wash your bike.

Recently I've seen a couple of video's on YT about ceramic coating,one by Bennetts bikesocial & last week one by Lamb chop rides.
From what I saw there's a lot of variation in the quality of the ceramic coating & it doesn't last as long on a motorcycle due to rubbing against the coating.
Myself I just use AC50 & wipe down things like the fork stanchions with GT85 & a rag.Other people will no doubt have a different cleaning / anti corrosion regime...

None whatsoever....I have never washed my bike let alone had it treated....

I just phoned the dealers, Destination Triumph, for more info but they've closed down. Their stock has been moved to the Solent branch and they've a very minimal servicing department (an office, no parts in stock and not even a van) close to where Destination used to be. Ho hum.

As for the ceramic coating, I should have got a goodie bag and some information when I picked the bike up, but I didn't.

The brand is Diamondbright and it should last "I dunno, erm 1 or 2 years, something like that".

I'd just give it a squirt with some sort of ceramic instant detailer goop, current fav is that purple Shine Armor stuff. My 30yo ZX11 looks like the paint was laid down yesterday.

Bollocks it is. I took their word and didn't rush to clean off seagull shit. Now I have patches of blown lacquer all over the roof. IMO it is just another rip off.

I paid the dealer to have my car (3 years old at the time) done when I bought it - Autoglym Lifeshine (supposed to have a ceramic finish, 'Ceracote').

Pretty impressed tbh and the effect was clear for quite a long time. Still clean the bird off ASAP though. I'd pay to have it done on the next one but not having it done again on this one.

I've always turned it down (along with the wheel insurance etc). I've never regretted that. Maybe I'm missing out.

The only ceramic coating I've encountered is CermaKrome, but it's a very different animal to the type of coating that Trinity has had done. I had the rear header pipe on my Falco CermaKromed over 15 years ago, and the finish is still perfect. I had it done to reduce the heat being transmitted to the shock that sits very close to the rear header after hearing about shock seal failures due to heat. The coating functions as a very effective thermal barrier, with reduced thermal radiation characteristics.

And it looks good, as well...

I got the wheel insurance last time...they threw it in for free for 2 years, probably because I took the Autoglym Lifeshine option.

(Didn't need to claim on it despite the sales bod saying 'Everyone scrapes them on these'. The fibber. ).

Lasted about three months on the Skoda.

Wonder if they can do it for frying pans...

Had it offered for free on our car, found the box of goodies in the boot after we collected it, clearly hadn't been applied, couldn't be arsed with getting it done in the end.

I now really miss my goodie bag and there is no one to complain to as they've closed down...and besides, I CBA to complain these days

To reiterate my original point while I am here, the professionally applied ceramic coating I had has proved to be very good indeed.
