Hi all,

I am an old git, I am 60 and still love bikes having owned over a hundred over a 40 year time period. But, this does not make me an expert in anything! I am still learning as I go along.

I came across the site by chance, thought it looked cool so signed up. FB seemed to kill a lot of the forums that I used to enjoy and if I am honest FB just seems to be for people looking for likes or comments on what they are having for breakfast, so it is not really for me these days.

I have more than one project on the go, as I am sure a lot of us have, but I am going to hopefully add my project to the project section and erm... look for likes or comments about my breakfast. Joking of course!

I have been off the road for 2 years coming up due to hip replacement that went wrong. I am (or have been) on the NHS waiting list ( 2yrs...) so feel forgotten.Never mind though as after only being able to walk a few hundred feet a chance conversation changed things. "Have you tried the elastic sports knee and thing supports before?" Me, "No". But I bought some, went out down the street with the dog, further than normal and found I could walk again! So, I decided that this year I will be back on 2 wheels whether it kills me!!

My project. I decided to go for something small-ish and light to give my hip a chance so bought as you do, a full bore nitrous drag race Hayabusa with a long swingarm. I bought it from a friend so I know it's history in his ownership, I have worked on it before so new it all worked but the ownly massive downfall it has is that it looks like an 80's shell suit. It looks HORRIBLE! I have my fingers crossed that I can't make it look any worse!

Hi mate, thanks for the comment. The pink and the stars go well together. They look like a homos**ual racing stripe (if I am allowed to say that?).
But worry not, things are now under way to change things.

The change being to go with a Yoshi X1 kind of look.

Welcome in man,plenty of old giffers on here,including myself I'll be hitting the 7th decade this year if I make it. I wish I was 60 again.

We don't often get new stock around here,even if it's new old stock. Most of us here have virtually grown old (older) together from the old Visordown site yonks ago,so I hope it won't come across as an old boys club with lots of in joke shtick.

Re the facebork thang,I find most closed groups are pretty good,it avoids most of the main page endless tripe.

I'd love to say that's a nice busa,but.... But since it's a lairy bike,I suppose a similar colour scheme is in suitable context.

Most of us post about ongoing work/changes to their bikes in the Projects,Owner's Bikes,Updates section. I'd be interested in the evolution of your bike.

In light of my comment about the racing stripes, that is tongue in cheek.
I also have tucked away for now, an FJR1300.

The Busa is just passing through here. I am going to ride it but it is not a keeper. It would be great if somebody who really appreciates Busa's can get enjoyment out of it.

I have other projects sitting here collecting dust which are more me. But I will keep them under my hat for now rather than my usual thing of doing 20 projects at once and never getting anything done!

Nice Telecaster in your little profile pic. I seem to collect Gibson myself as guitars and motorbikes seem to go hand in hand together.

Likewise,motorcyles and music have been a constant with me. Only one Gibson lives here now!

Lovely, period correct with the Norlin era "Gibson" logo. Perfect.

I think that I have a couple more now, but here are a pic of some of mine. My main guitar now is a well used and abused £300 LP Studio that I bought locally. The rest are just collecting dust (for now). The £300 one is not in the picture. I am like you, I bought my 1st Gibson at 16 and then have bought them as and when over the years, as money has allowed.



You need a shed guitar for when things go wrong and you have the blues!

Mighty fine set of used guitars there. Careful with those headstocks now.

I think 3 of them have had broken headstocks already.

I'll buy Gibson that others won't. Once they are glued up, they can be stronger than new.

It is bugging the life out of me that I can't find the pics of my old pink (flourescent pink with flourescent green wheels!) GSX1260EFE.
I had the bright (flourescent bright!!) idea of kind of doing a reverse paint version of Steve Burns famous EFE. Where his was green, mine was pink.

It is crap that the only pics I can find are when the bike had different panels and wheels on it.

But one pic that I could find shows some of its (ahem...)decal/graphics.

Here is what was the pink bike. It has different bits and pieces on it (wheels and panels), but it was a mental bike to ride. And best of all, it was my 365 day a year bike. My only transport!
