I have just booked to go to Morzine end on June. Last time I was there, before I crashed and burned, I had issues with bluing discs / overheating pads.
I accept I am a brake dragger - I do it to check speed into corners etc and comfort brake.
Obviously if I don’t drag brakes I won’t overheat them.
But are some pads (galfer green) better than others . Or would sticking 220 discs on (if compatible) help?
Any other advice ?

Galfer green are without doubt stronger and better yes. He runs Black in his Mavens though because they're again a lot stronger too.

I think Mineral oil boiling point is higher than Dot?

I need to try his Mavens but he tells me they're much more powerful. Along with bigger calipers and more surface area, I can't see how that wouldn't help.

Deciding to actually check what is mounted on there, the rear is a "girl's only" 180 mm size. That could perhaps explain some issues.
So looking at up grading that to at 200mm. The Privateer 161 won't take a 220 on the back

Worth checking you've got nice fresh fluid - the reason you change it is because water disolved in/absorbed by the fluid lowers its boiling point. Even water from the air will do it (and bear in mind most plastics aren't actually 100% effective moisture barriers, before you say the system is sealed ).

Won't do anything for overheating and bluing parts of course.

He runs SRAM HS2 as they're 2mm thick instead of 1.8mmand again in theory can help with heat dissipation. However as with the above, me and you brake 20x more than him.
We were testing the Mavens at Dyfi and after 1 particular run I asked him about them
"Oh, don't think I used them "

I'd have been in them for 50% of my run.

I was just about to push the button on some Galfer Greens, that the boy wonder uses ...
But then I remembered you said he doesn't use his brakes
Hence , I am guessing his idea of good and mine, might be slightly different!

Nah, the Galfer green are the industry standard for brakes mate, they're what Hope supply with their brakes. I used them at BPW and they were superb on the RSC.

I'm happy with Galfer black which are a lot cheaper, but for Morzine I would go greens

I have gone Purples - e-bike std. As I am not the lightest

Yeah I get the impression they're superb. I don't know what the actual difference is, maybe they dissipate heat better due to stopping a heavy bike, but that's weird as I'd think DH use heats as much if not more.
