Re: What have you done today thread?
Went shopping & on the way stopped by to take a look at a house:
https://www.movoto.com/quartz-hill-ca/4 ... r23188812/
Huge closet in the master bedroom, then I opened a door to what looked like a smaller closet & discovered stairs leading to a finished basement, probably 500sq ft. Agent had no idea it was there.
Walked out back to look at the 2500sq ft workshop. Walked through the man door & found myself in a VERY insulated room of about 600sq ft.
Probably 60 electric fans piled on the floor.
Man door to a similar room & yet another door to two more rooms, found another 40 fans & a dozen mini-split AC units...
each room had wires hanging from the ceiling that I assume were to attach the fans to.
The large roll up door isn't accessible from inside owing to insulated walls.
Walked behind the workshop & found 10 more AC units ...
Yanno... this is looking very much like a grow house...
Walked back to look at the attached 3 car garage.. entire structure lined with foil faced insulation, lots of PVC plumbing, quad outlets every 6ft all the way around the walls, more fans, more AC units, more wires hanging from the ceiling...
Had a look behind the garage & found AC lines coming through the walls for at least 4 more AC units...
At this point me & the listing agent were just laughing at each discovery.

In the UK they tap into the mains electric to bypass the meter - to run heat lamps, not AC

Took the wife's SL for a service.
When I picked it up the guy on reception told me what a nice car it was and gave me a teddy bear with a white jumper on because it matched the SL.
I'm not gay or nuffink.

Baby D is now learning Piano at school. We've got her a cheap 61 key keyboard to practice at home (every time she sits down she has the sweetest little "hmm...now where's Middle C again?" under her breath).
Tonight I noticed one of the tones it has is "80s Rock Synth", so, naturally, like any red blooded middle aged man, tonight I've mostly been figuring out the into to The Final Countdown.
Pretty much got it. Jump is next, natch.
Me <--> Rick Wakeman. Basically the same.

Discussing this on another forum & some people think (based on the number of AC units) that it may have been a crypto mining operation.

Re: What have you done today thread?
I did stuff to brakes, gave up, got pissy, rode to the valley for coffee and a cinnamon roll! Brought the cinnamon roll home to eat whilst rewatching the Ire v NZ but in English (Had some questions last night cos didn't understand all the commentary!)
Bailed on the trip up the Col de la Madeleine because some the mountain roads were damp and all the peaks were in cloud!! I don't know the road up to the col at all, so figured it might have to be saved until next year.
Bonus is that the guy of the couple I was supposed to go up with yesterday (and possibly today) has been nominated to come and help with the rear brake. Small bonuses!

Re: What have you done today thread?
Polished the wife's car.
I had to drive it to the service yesterday and was horrified at the amount of fly shit and tar on it (it's a white car), so today I whipped out my DA and gave it a once over with some cheap polish.
I don't think it's been this shiny since it left the factory.

Technically yesterday but didn't get home until early hours today.
Saw the old granny with pointy tits in a leotard (Madonna) at the O2 last night - it was lame. Even the wife who was a Madonna fan agreed....

To me Suffolk is up north. Beyond that is just a frozen tundra...

The same around London, some places were just below freezing.
Luckily I left on Saturday. Camped near Limoges Saturday night, the temperature dropped to 6⁰, hotel in Spain last night and home today where it's currently 26⁰.

Jumped on the bike and got on to the A13 and though fook its cold. Checked the dash and it was 5 degrees. Going to dig out the winter liner and will have to start wearing bike trousers instead of jeans now.v8-powered wrote: Mon Oct 16, 2023 2:15 pmOnly 2c in my part of Essex (still North to you though i guess?)

Car said 0c.
Got to use the heated screen for the first time (only had the car since April).
I had to bang the heated steering wheel up to 11 too.
