As already pointed out, you're mixing up messages/quotes there.

Still - it does remind me of one thought I've often had. The idea of America, their self image to a certain extent, is certainly one to be admired. S'just a damned shame they've consistently failed to live up to it, but I suppose they're far from alone in that.

As long as you keep that open mind, that's the main thing :)
Maybe I was a little too certain. How about: it's in the Guardian, it's written by George Monbiot, There's a small chance it might not be wrong but don't bet your house on it. ;)

Guardian wrote:Trump might well win again – God help us if he does. If so, his victory will be due not only to the racial resentment of ageing white men, or to his weaponisation of culture wars or to algorithms and echo chambers, important as these factors are. It will also be the result of values embedded so deeply that we forget they are there.
After Brexit I hoped the Guardian might have learned that calling people names won't convince them to change their minds, this article is just to make their readers feel superior.

That’s right - and it was Alexander Graham Bell that developed the metal detector. I think I read it in one of Bryson’s books.

SOP around the POTUS. When previous Presidents appeared on Leno's show all the staff are vetted, some were told not to show up at work on the day. I would imagine this is SOP for all chat shows etc.
You should have seen the shitshow when Obama came to Belfast, closed the entire bloody town down at rush hour, it was absolute fucking chaos.

Florida documents case against Trump was just dismissed...
The Florida judge overseeing Donald Trump's classified documents trial dismissed the case against the former president Monday on the grounds that the appointment of and funding for special counsel Jack Smith was illegal.
Judge Aileen Cannon, a Trump nominee to the bench, said in her 93-page decision that Smith's appointment was "unlawful" and unconditional. "The clerk is directed to close this case," the judge wrote.

Same here when any POTUS or VP comes to LA. It's a total clusterfuck if AF1 lands at LAX as it interrupts everyone else's travel plans & work commute.
Not quite so bad when it lands at Burbank. I had an interesting interaction with Clintons SS there back in the day. Two of them walked into the hangar where I was working on an A26 that had replica .50's & rockets hanging on the wings... They about shit as Clinton's plane was right outside the door. Five minutes later they were both in the A26 cockpit acting like Wild Bill Kelso

The USA is a 'union' of many different 'countries', ethnic groups, languages, cultures, religions, legal systems, ... The only common factor uniting the USA is the pursuit of wealth.

There loads of videos on x.com showing that Cops were alerted by multiple people about the shooter. No action was taken until the shots were fired at Trump. I find it extraordinary that he wasn't immediately removed from the stage and also that the shooter was watched getting into position and firing! WTaF!??

It does seem that the SS may have some competency questions to answer.

OMG! You mean a Judge followed the actual law? Maybe you think a Democrat appointed Judge would have violated Constitutional law?
