Indeed not. See the 'Dowd Controversy' when a cockernee (well, Lewisham, so not even a proper Lahndaner really) accused Hendos of being a copy/rip off.Mr. Dazzle wrote: ↑Sat Mar 02, 2024 7:28 pmVegan Worcestershire sauce innit, but I doubt you'd hear many Yorkshire folk describe it thus
Apparently Lea and Perrins couldn't trademark the term 'Worcestershire' so, I assume, anyone can make a version.
Hendos has got tamarind in - like HP sauce used to when it didn't just taste like vinegar and sugar and could clear your sinuses. (+ it had info in French on the label 'Cette sauce d'épices.....').

Re: In todays news...
Tamarind* + Date...the "proper" flavour of brown sauce and now much lacking IMO.
It's like Ketchup...Tommy K is a proper sauce, but 90% of it is just sugary piss.
*I'm never sure if I'm spelling this word correctly, or accidentally referring to a small monkey.

When Heinz took it over, they kept it being made in Birmingham and the UK for a while. But then it was moved to Nijmegen. In the meter / takeover by Kraft, financial engineering will have taken place, so it doesn't surprise me that the expensive tamarind will have been reduced or replaced by flavour.
God knows what the will do with Lea and Perrins

Heinz did actually do a range of hipster wanker sauces for a while with much higher tomato and spice content. I, being a hipster millennial wanker, bought it quite often but I was seemingly the only one 'cause they stopped doing it
Fortunately the growth of Instagram et al means there are loads of independents who make a pretty decent stab it all now

(A bit like hipster "choose your grind" coffee supplies)
The thing with sauces, pickles and relishes is, the all sound great, you buy get another one - and you forget the 12 that are languishing at the back of the fridge.
My sister bought me some brussels sprout ketchup once. It was actually quite nice - but limit in use

Re: In todays news...
They certainly did. It used to be dark, deep and mysterious and have a pretty 'grown-up' taste. Now it's thinner, paler, tastes like vinegar, sugar and caramel and they've taken the expensive ingredients out. The technical term for the current version is ' cheap shite'.

There's some kind of sub-text at play here. The teacher who grassed the head up was 'the designated lead for safeguarding' and was either taking her role way too seriously or was after the head teacher's job... I wouldn't last five minutes in an environment like that.Yorick wrote: ↑Fri Mar 08, 2024 9:17 pm The world's gone mad. A parent surely has a duty to show the child a mistake?

And the Trust failed miserably in investigating and handling the complaint. Safeguarding complaint = automatic sacking is NOT the way to go. Trust me, I am the Safeguarding Trustee of a significant-sized Trust.irie wrote: ↑Sun Mar 10, 2024 9:54 amReading between the above and other lines the two of them had 'history'.mangocrazy wrote: ↑Fri Mar 08, 2024 10:18 pmThere's some kind of sub-text at play here. Lee Anderson defects to Reform UK. No real surprise, but I bet Sunak isn't happy!
