Ed Miliband has just backed down and will now support ditching Labour's £28bn green pledge.Mr Miliband, posting on social media last June, said: “Some people don’t want Britain to borrow to invest in the green economy. They want us to back down. But Keir, Rachel and I will never let that happen. Britain needs this £28 billion a year plan and that is what we are committed to.”

Re: In todays news...
This made me giggle
The prisoner who escaped on Wednesday was giving a talk about reinsertion into society.
https://gazettelife.com/news/prisoner-e ... o-society/
The prisoner was addressing a class at Costa Teguise secondary school, as part of Tahiche Prison’s Educational Therapy Unit. Two prison guards escorted him to the school, but the prisoner managed to give them the slip and reinsert himself into society rather earlier than planned.
There is no indication that the prisoner poses any risk at all to the general public.

Re: In todays news...
Maybe I'm being a bit dim, but why is any criticism of the state of Isreal instantly branded antisemitism?
OK, this fella has clearly got some bias and been reading some dodgy websites, so maybe not a good example.

Because the state of Israel likes it that way Fair play to 'em, it's a good bit of branding/cover isn't it?

Re: In todays news...
I think all countries with an ethnic identity do similar defensive over-reaction. Everything is racist, to many black African governments. Even the Scottish Nationalists do it, at a school playground level.
The loony Labour candidate was not criticising Israel in a rational way. He was broadcasting anti-Semitic lies. He was too blatant, even for the Labour party, though they didn’t realise that, for a few days.OK, this fella has clearly got some bias and been reading some dodgy websites, so maybe not a good example.

Re: In todays news...
Not even necessary to go to dodgy websites, much of the media reported that several red flags regarding Hamas activities that looked like preparation for an attack, including from Israel's own border monitoring posts, were ignored/not passed up the chain of command.

The sad thing is, from an physical anthropological point of view, Jews and Arabs are the same thing. Only the religion is different.

Given how long the tube was going up my trouser sausage, you be forgiven for thinking it just about to emerge from my left nostril.
And alas, my nose and prostate are the only parts of my anatomy that can be considered larger than average.
