Oh yeah, slightly BMP-ish is the way pharmacies have to work. They have to pay up front when they get stuff in and then go though all the admin stuff to reclaim the money. So, they don't generally stock stuff in case anyone needs it because that's 'dead money'. I had a prescription for 40 tabs. The independent place only had 20 (I'm on 8/day) and you really need to take antibiotics continuously for the prescribed period...I'm away 3 days next week. So, off I pop to Boots. 'We've got 8'. Back I go to the independent....'I'll take 'em, when can you have the rest?' 'Erm. Maybe tomorrow, maybe Monday, maybe....'.

Yes, I have his service medal and a couple of photos of him in battledress, etc, and I thought it'd be nice to put a printout in with it, in case anyone down the line would like to know about what he did in the war. Sadly, it seems we can defeat the nazis, but not GDPR and bureaucracy!

I sent a request in for both my BDad's and Grandpop's service records - first Army second Navy (he joined up at about 12 so he could fight in the first world war ! )

Request posted back in April or May - radio silence, and no postal reply, since then. Not really sure how long to give them before I try again !!

About 4pm I get an email from Amazon saying that the package has been delayed, and if it's not here by the 23rd, I can claim a refund.

I wouldn't mind but I'm paying each month for prime and the missing package has supplements for the hounds, also, Royal Mail don't deliver every day here, you get your letters, even tracked 24 ones, in big clumps maybe twice a week

That's interesting. I didn't see an option to do it online, but I'll have another look. I did finally get a copy of his birth certificate, so maybe that will help (only had the info when I posted the request!)

The weather is BMP right now. I fancy going for a ride to the coast on my bike, but i'll not enjoy it in this overcast and drizzly crap weather.

You wouldn't enjoy it here either, it's a high of 36 degrees on the coast today . It's cooling down slightly tomorrow (31 degrees is forecast) so I might take the Hyper to Benidorm for a hearing appointment.

As in today someone said 'everyone deserves to retire on a decent pension' or the frequent 'our children deserve....eg a good education'.

It means 'to be worthy of reward' ie something earned.

Children haven't had time to earn anything and some people 'deserve' a kick up the backside rather than a decent pension. (That's not to say that children shouldn't have the opportunity for a good education and their parents may expect to be rewarded in that way for paying their taxes but that's a different kettle of mackerel).

If they'd said ' we should endeavour to provide an education system that enables ambition for the future....etc' I'd have been on board. It should help develop ambition not be trimmed to whatever a child's ambition might be (how many children know what they want to do/be?).

I'd also suggest that we, the hard grafting, tax paying, model citizens deserve to be surrounded by healthy, well educated young citizens with well-developed moral values - not uneducated, criminal, consumptives. So we deserve that the children get a decent education.

Actually it’s me upsetting someone else, but on the train this morning someone got on with his “made from chinesium”, folding, burn your house down whilst it’s charging, electric motorbike masquerading as an ebike and attempted to rest the piece of pig iron on my bike to which I bluntly told him that wouldn’t be happening and I’d move my bike. Apparently I was horrible and rude

We (operator i work for) has upset the Dunwich Dynamo brigade - we only allow a handful of bikes on each train now and unless they have prebooked, that get hoofed off.

eBay filters. I put UK only on a search and it turns out the item I've bought is coming from China. My bad as I should have checked the suppliers detail at the bottom, but what's the point of that filter!

Elvis has not been eating much lately and getting worse.
Vet did xray this morning and he has 2 big growths on his oesophagus.
Can't do anything and he can't eat.

Vet says it's time to let him go.

She's gonna call Monday and she'll come to our house when it's suitable.
At least we've got a weekend to say goodbye.

He's 14 but otherwise OK. Loves his short walks
