Then tap it out. Then scrape it with a penknife. Then tap it out again. Maybe fill it. Then take an inordinate amount of time packing it. Consider lighting it, but then use the tip to emphasise a particular point of conversation. Light it, eventually. Take an hour to smoke it. Start the whole process again. Ad infintum.

Followed by pulling out a large paisley handkerchief and polishing your specs with it in an absent minded fashion. This is the equivalent of 'full stop' subconsciously signalling that the point is made, the logic irrefutable and the conversation is ended.

The vapes thing is a marv example of shutting the stable door etc but the key thing of course is to eliminate anything that might avoid the 25% tax. As soon as they lost all that lovely lolly from tabs and baccy, tax on vapes was inevitable. Unfortunately for them there was far more money to be made from tax on disposables than on the kit that lasts for years...so it'll all end up on vape juice (or whatever they call it)....and I'm pretty sure any half decent kitchen chemist can brew that up if they can get their hands on the nicotine and flavourings. Expect ship loads of wrongly labelled liquid products chugging up through the Red Sea and a whole new version of County Lines. :D

Me too, but after 30 years or more, I'm happy with the memories of days past. The smell of Erinmore still does it for me. Where's my tweed jacket with leather elbow patches?

My Swedish friends use snuss. Almost all use the pouches, but one old school Swede still uses loose snuss. Again, there's a bit of a ritual: lid comes off the little pot, the grains are arefully pinched and selected to get the right quantity, it's then squeezed into a little baguette shape, inserted under the left upper lip followed by a few tongue contortions to get it into the requisite position.
After about five minutes a small blob of brown spittle appears in the corner of the lips.

I've tried it a few times, it's not my bag.

LOL. Haven't tried a (tobacco) pipe since I was about 17.

(I went a bit green around the gills and never bothered again. Used to like the smell of some pipe baccies though. Clan was quite aromatic iirc - and the ads were amusing).

Skoal bandits were similar I think but the tobacco came in a bag that, apparently, went under the bottom lip. It's a form of 'dipping tobacco' and, having just read the Wikipedia entry about it, sounds and looks vile.

It is. A very Scandinavian thing. Gives a real head rush. What annoys me is that they have a habit of spitting used ones in the urinal.

That disgusting habit used to make cigarette ends soggy and difficult to light.

It was a real skill to 'push' them up the urinal against the natural flow :obscene-birdiedoublered:

Yesterday was the sad anniversary of the loss of the Challenger and her crew.
"Of all the stories you told me, which ones were true and which ones weren't?"
"My dear Doctor, they're all true."
"Even the lies?"
"Especially the lies."
