I reckon some of you's lot are either telling porkies or suffering selective memory loss. I went into the office yesterday and met up with some colleagues. When pressed, as is my wont on this subject, they all, bar none said they were adhering to lockdown rules, but with the caveat of, '...although I did see my >insert family member< on their birthday' or 'I had to pop round the parents' as they had a problem with t heir heating, but if I hadn't they'd have had have called British Gas anyway', etc, etc. This is the same for everyone I speak to. Now don't get me wrong, I ain't judging. Me and Mrs. G, have been looking after the in-laws as they're incapable of looking after themselves and social services are nowhere to be seen, let alone the GP, occupational health, etc.

So, 60% of you feckers are being honest, I'll give you that. I'd venture that maybe 10% may, by virtue of their circumstance be adhering, i.e., they're miserable sods who live under a bridge all year anyway. The rest of yers....fibbers and bullshitters, I reckon.

We're so elitist in the Home Counties that we had our own version of it made.

Thinking aloud.

I wonder how many folk have been using the lock-down periods to do some thinking 'out of the box'? I've limited my major supermarket shopping trips to once a month - get the fruit and veg from the corner shop. As such, my car is parked on the driveway and not getting any use at all. This got me thinking: Do I really need a car? It is essential during the bitterly cold winter months and is useful when taking things to the recycle tip and maybe collecting things from the builders but it ends there.

I am slowly coming to the conclusion I don't really need one. I reckon the savings I will make: insurance, road fund tax, servicing, M.O.T. fuel, vehicle depreciation and whatever else adds up to a tidy sum that could be used to pay for a taxi. The rest of the year I can use my bike(s) and do some more walking.

I'd like to be able to do winter riding but I have done my fair share over the years and the bones are too creaky to go back there again.

And yes...I am still strictly adhering.

During the first lockdown, out of necessity I had to take my Dad to loads of medical appointment in clinics and hospitals. For his sake and my own I was far from comfortable, but I made a real effort to be as careful as I could.

I haven't visited/mixed with any friends since that time. It's easy to phone or message to keep in touch. Shopping is for essentials,so that has to be done, but once again,it's not rocket science to be careful.

I'm out walking for around 2 hours every morning, well away from people and I don't leave the house again, unless it's necessary.

I daresay you are right gremlin,a lot of people will do what they think they'll get away with,I hear it regularly.

Dealing with the lack of social interaction is more difficult for some than others,I'm perhaps fortunate that I can usually amuse myself without harming woodland/farm animals. If we are being 100% honest,my one weakness in all this would be the interpretation of 'essential journeys',come the better weather. For example I may find myself riding the long way for a litre of cow juice. I'm really hoping the vaccine eases restrictions from Spring onwards,so I won't be tempted.

Eldest and youngest came for Christmas - socially distancing / masking was observed until they had both had negative tests.
Other than that the last had anyone else in the house other than me and the missus was pre the March lockdown.

As for going out -
- roughly 3 social rendezvous with local chums, all outside (even the NYE one) with social distancing. No mask - living on the edge.
- other than that strictly shopping excursion. You've had to do masks in shops since the start of all this here. We laboriously wash down shopping and we use those antibac wetwipes wherever we go.

Over here at least I get the impression folk are being MORE careful now - potentially the end is in sight, nobody wants to catch / pass-on this thing at this point?

I had the opportunity to visit the local hospital the other week. By fvck it's grim as a visitor under covid - can't imagine what it's like to work there or have to be admitted.

We get most stuff delivered, with a very occasional foray to the local shop for bread, milk and fresh veg. No visitors, haven't seen my daughter since August, and that was after she had isolated for a week and tested negative.

I am firmly of the opinion that we should have locked down harder and earlier, and those who absolutely HAD to go abroad should have been allowed out but not back in. I would strongly support a 'no travel beyond say 25 miles for any reason' policy, when Cornwall was Tier 1 and the rest of the world was Tier 3 the emmets were arriving wholesale.

I want to say "let them die", but the problem is that they kill other people.
